The Great Amherst Mystery
Esther Cox, lived with her married sister Olive Teed, Olive's husband Daniel and their two young children. Her siblings also lived with them, as did Daniel's brother John Teed. The family lived in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada and between 1878 and 1879, Esther experienced unexplained knockings, bangings and rustlings in the night. She began to suffer seizures, her body visibly swelled and she was feverish and chilled just before objects in the house took flight. This is her story.
