Jack Draw: What it takes to get invited to the world championships

Teams around the country are on pins and needles waiting to find out if they qualified to compete in the Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational BBQ. The draw is taking place Aug. 8. Champion Pitmaster Christie Vanover has cooked and judged the Jack. In this week's episode, she explains how the draw works.

CORRECTION: In this podcast when explaining the trickle effect, I said that the home state teams were taken out of the draw. Today, I confirmed that's not accurate. Home state teams are left in the draw. If after the draw, there are still home state teams not represented, then the Jack adds them. Also, I confirmed that the draw is done randomly, not in alphabetical order.
