Is it even possible?Well, as it so happens, yes it is.Thanks to the existence of wands, we can learn a lot about a person simply by taking a quick glance at the wand clenched in their hand.Of course, to the untrained eye a wand will appear to be nothing more than a glorified piece of wood- and that doesn't tell us anything.But fortunately, thanks to the expertise and guidance of Garrick Ollivander, owner of Ollivander's wand shop in Diagon Alley, we now have the ability to carefully dissect each component of the wand. Harry sees all of this through the pensieve- through the memories of Snape himself- and it's here that he witnesses a young Snape, begging and pleading with Dumbledore- the leader of the opposition.One thought came to my mind when I first came across this segment- and that was, why did Dumbledore agree to meet Snape? And when he did meet him, why didn't he kill him? Furthermore, wasn't he afraid that Snape might try and kill HIM? At this point, Snape subscribed to the inhuman philosophies of Lord Voldemort. He was a killer, traitor, liar, and betrayer of all those who had trusted him. You may ask. Why, Marvolo Gaunt's ring of course.When Dumbledore went out searching for Horcruxes, it didn't take long for him to find Marvolo Gaunt's ring- a Horcrux that happened to house the fabled Resurrection Stone- one of the 3 Deathly Hallows.And how could a man who lived such a troubling life, a life full of regret, ignore the temptations of the Resurrection Stone? A powerful relic that could (momentarily) reunite him with the shades of dead loved ones who had since passed. In particular, Dumbledore had a lot to say to his dead sister Ariana.In the end, it was the allure of the Resurrection Stone that prompted Dumbledore to slide the ring onto his finger, and receive Voldemort's lethal curse.In that brief moment, when his eyes first met the stone, Albus completely forgot the dark charms with which Voldemort had cursed his Horcruxes. Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we're going to be discussing Goblins AND Elves in relation to wand ownership. Now, it should come as no surprise when I tell you that Goblins haven't been treated well over the course of wizarding history. Pure bloods outright hated them, and in the past even the most progressive members of the wizarding world felt a general mistrust for the tiny, monstrous humanoid-creatures. And if we look back at Wizarding history, there appears to have been conflict after conflict between wizards and goblins, with the goblins rebelling on numerous occasions.In the present day, I think it's safe to say that tensions have lowered, but that things certainly have a long way to go. These days, Goblins are in charge of Gringotts Wizarding Bank, overseeing all of the responsibilities associated with currency in the Wizarding World. And in this more modern era, it would appear that the more progressive members of wizarding society have (almost) started to treat them as equals. But still, there remain obvious imbalances in the wizarding world that inhibit Goblins. Over the course of the Harry Potter story we see some impressively old witches and wizards, including some who have lived for multiple centuries.Barry Wee Willie Winkle, the oldest living wizard, had his 755th birthday featured in the August 1991 issue of the Daily Prophet, and Nicolas Flamel, with the help of the Philosopher's Stone, reached 700.But while these numbers may seem impressive, it's important to note that wizardkind dates back much, much further than 700 or so years. The origins of magic and where magic came from is still unclear to this day, and no one knows whether the inception of wizardkind was born from humans randomly discovering their magical abilities - or if it was created in some form - by way of pact, ritual, or potion."Magic is a supernatural force that changes aspects of the world at fundamental levels. The ability for humans to use magic is a hereditary trait passed down from a person's ancestors, which allows witches and wizards to practice it. More specifically, we're going to be dissecting WHY Ron was able to seemingly bypass Hogwarts rules and bring a pet rat to school. Before any young witch or wizard heads off to Hogwarts, they'll need to make sure they run through their shopping list. We see this list referenced when Hagrid takes Harry to Diagon Alley for the first time."This shopping list includes all of the books and equipment you'll need for the first year of Hogwarts."A shopping list is provided to all current and prospective students of Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, and outlines all of the school supplies that they will need for that year. For first years, the shopping list is sent along with their Hogwarts acceptance letter, for third years, it comes with Hogsmeade forms (a permission form required to be signed by a third year student's parent or guardian in order for that student to take part on the weekend trips to Hogsmeade Village), and for sixth years it comes with their OWL results.The shopping list was created to help give students an idea of what they need for their time at the school, including things like books, robes, cauldrons, and the topic of today's video: animals.Hogwarts students are able to choose between an owl, cat or toad to accompany them to school. This is very clearly outlined in the shopping list.But right near the very beginning of the story, Ron pops up out of nowhere with his pet rat. Ron brings Scabbers to Hogwarts with him for many years, and presumably, Percy Weasley brought Scabbers along with HIM for years before that.
