Episódio 36 - Dar-se conta de/Perceber

In this episode I will talk about the expression "dar-se conta de" and the verb "perceber" when we want to say we realized something.

REFLEXIVE PRONOUN IN PORTUGUESE:

FOR THE FIRST PERSON SINGULAR – EU: ME

Eu me dei conta disso. ( I realized this.)

FOR THE FIRST PERSON PLURAL – NÓS: NOS

Nós nos demos conta disso. (We realized this.)

FOR THE THIRD PERSON SINGULAR – ELE/ELA/VOCÊ: SE

Ele se deu conta disso. (He realized this)

FOR THE THIRD PERSON PLURAL – ELES/ELAS/VOCÊS: SE

Eles se deram conta disso (They realized this).

//EXEMPLOS:

Ela se deu conta de que todo mundo estava escutando sua conversa.

(She realized everyone was listening her conversation.)

De repente, eu me dei conta de que estava perdido na floresta

(Suddenly, I realized I was lost in the forest.)

Amanhã ele vai se dar conta da besteira que ele fez.

(Tomorrow he will realize what a mistale he has done.)

Assim que eu me dei conta da situação, resolvi chamar a polícia

(As soon as I realized the situation, I called the police.)

Levou um tempo para nós nos darmos conta do tamanho do problema.

(It took a while for us to realize the size of the problem.)

Só quando ela começou a cantar, eu me dei conta de quem ela era.

(Only when she started singing did I realized who she was.)

** THE REFLEXIVE PRONOUN COMES BETWEEN THE SUBJECT PRONOUN AND THE VERB:

Ela se deu conta de que todo mundo estava escutando sua conversa.

//NEGATIVE FORM:

Ela não se deu conta de que todo mundo estava escutando sua conversa.

(She has not realized everyone was listening her conversation..)

Eu não me dei conta de que estava perdido na floresta.

(I have not realized I was lost in the forest.)

Ele não vai se dar conta da besteira que ele fez.

(He will not relize what a mistale he has done.)

Nós não nos demos conta do tamanho do problema.

(We have not realized the size of the problem.)

Ontem, eu não me dei conta de quem ela era.
(I did not realize who she was yesterday.)

///VERBO: PERCEBER

Ela percebeu que todo mundo estava escutando sua conversa.

(She realized everyone was listening her conversation.)

De repente, eu percebi que estava perdido na floresta
