The Millbrook Twins (Part Three: The Now)

In March of 1990, two teenagers disappeared from Augusta, Georgia. Their names are Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook. Early on, the lead detective - who handled all of Augusta's missing teenager cases - zeroed in on the theory that both girls had run away together. This theory began to look less likely with each passing day, but that didn't stop the case from being closed in 1991 and the investigation shuttered until 2013.

In the years since, police and independent investigators have had very little evidence to draw on, basing their understanding of the case on the comments made by that original lead detective. He has placed most of the blame for the case's mishandling on someone - a juvenile probation officer, who knew the family of the twins and volunteered his time.

In this episode, I speak to the sister of the twins, Shanta Sturgis, in the hopes of understanding who this juvenile probation officer was, and why the lead detective has decided to give him the majority of the blame. We also chat the current status of the case, and what you - the listener - can do to help out.

Part three of three.

If you would like to help support the family, you can head to the following link:

This is a crowdfunding effort I have established alongside the hosts of the Fall Line podcast, Brooke and Laurah. We are hoping to put up a billboard in Augusta, to not only inform the area that the case is still very open, but that there is a $8000+ reward for information that leads to any answers for the Millbrook & Sturgis family.

Episode nine of the Unresolved Podcast focuses on Arlis Perry, a conservative young woman that met a grisly fate in the California Fall of 1974. Was it a personal vendetta against her? Or was she, in some way, involved with a nation-wide Satanic cult? Written and hosted by Micheal Whelan Music and production by T. Nordgren Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

Bardstown (Part Two: "America's Most Beautiful Small Town")

Bardstown (Part Two: "America's Most Beautiful Small Town")

After the murder of Officer Jason Ellis, the relatively small area of Bardstown, Kentucky was on-edge. However, their fears were not soothed with the introduction of a troubled group of young men, who called themselves the "Bardstown Money Gang." In the following years, a woman and her teenage daughter - named Kathy and Samantha Netherland - were mysterious found murdered in their own home. And with the backdrop of these prior tragedies - the veil of police corruption looming around the town - a young mother went missing, showing that one of America's most beautiful small towns had some ugly truths to face. Part two of two. Written and hosted by Micheal Whelan Music and production by T. Nordgren Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

Bardstown (Part One: Officer Jason Ellis)

Bardstown (Part One: Officer Jason Ellis)

In 2013, Officer Jason Ellis lived out his life as if it was any other. He was a family man, with a wife and two young sons - one of which was special needs. He was a local hero, having played baseball for the Cincinnati Reds minor league system, and given up his baseball goals to support a family in Bardstown, Kentucky: what one magazine infamously proclaimed "America's Most Beautiful Small Town." However, one evening would see the lives of everyone around his forever changed, and create a mystery that has marred the image of a legendary town. Part one of two.  Written and hosted by Micheal Whelan Music and production by T. Nordgren Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

Mr. Cruel

Mr. Cruel

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, a name would become synonymous with the boogeyman in areas of Australia. His name was Mr. Cruel, and he was a serial child abductor that committed multiple heinous crimes without ever getting caught. Written, hosted, and produced by Micheal Whelan.Music credits:"Nae Shaam" by Graham Bole"Endless Grey" by The Gateless Gate"Decaying Ships" by Pulse Emitter"Sunset" by Kai Engel"Enoch" by Laoshi Ma"Idea" by Kai Engel"Astral & Shit - Vindicta (Lost-Radio Reshape)" by Lo-Fi FidelityBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

Israel Keyes

Israel Keyes

On this episode of the Unresolved Podcast, I take a look at Israel Keyes, a man that many investigators have labelled "one of the most methodical serial killers of all-time." This is a slight twist on the typical "unsolved mystery," because the killer is known beforehand, but the victims and the crimes still remain a mystery.Written, hosted, and produced by Micheal Whelan.Music credits:"Heebie-Jeebies" by Graham Bole"High Water" by Artem Bemba"Hokkaido" by The Gateless Gate"I Invented Electricity (Dorkmix)" by inBOIL"Moonlit Valley" by Pulse Emitter"Zzyzx" by Mutant Data Orchestra"Myvatn" by The Gateless Gate"Eighth" by Hacker BlinksBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.
