The fire, which seemed to have been intentionally started in a gravel parking lot near the MetraPark Arena, had engulfed a vehicle within minutes of the 3:32 AM call being placed to emergency dispatchers.During the process of extinguishing the fire, firefighters had to force open the trunk of the burning vehicle, a 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera. These ranged from sightings of bright lights in the sky to more direct encounters with strange beings. Journalists attempted to make sense of the endless barrage of sightings, which seemed to draw closer and closer to Point Pleasant throughout 1967. But when it all culminated in the collapse of the town's Silver Bridge in December of that year, resulting in 46 deaths, people began to question if what they had seen was a dark omen...
