My partner is perfect...why do I have doubts? Relationship coach Megan Luscombe is back to answer your questions
We asked for your wild Aussie wildlife stories and in this episode we hear about your run ins with spiders, possums, and emus, and find out what happened when Steph and her friends were riding bikes in high school and came face-to-face with an emu. And you loved our episode with relationship coach Megan Luscombe so much that we invited her back to answer a question from the community. You asked: “On paper he is perfect. He’s the ‘settle down with kind of guy’. Why do I have doubts?” We put this question to Megan and find out what she thinks about the idea of “the one”. Losing a loved one & giving birth 3 weeks later - KICBUMP with Katie Lolas
Katie Lolas is beloved by her online community who she shares her life with. When Katie’s sister, Nadia passed away unexpectedly in 2021 at 31 years old, Katie’s community grieved alongside her. But Katie had another job to do: she was 35 weeks pregnant and in three weeks’ time, she was due to deliver her first child, Harper, via C-section. When Katie was trying to grieve one life changing event, she was also trying to celebrate another life changing event, and trying not to feel guilty for doing one or the other. In this episode, Katie speaks with Steph all about of it. They discuss how Katie learned that Nadia had passed away, the pressure to feel happy for having a healthy baby while she was grieving her sister, being diagnosed with depression and the support she received to get through it, how she remembers Nadia now, and what life is like with her three-year-old Harper and nine-month-old Eli. Katie stayed at a Tresillian centre. Either we’re having sex…or we’re roommates. We want the in-between stuff!
Can a kiss ever just be a kiss…or does it always have to lead to sex? Laura was scrolling Instagram where she saw this clip with Psychosexologist Karen Gurney and Diary of a CEO host Steven Barlett discussing the idea of “sexual currency” aka everything you do with your partner *except* sex. Steph and Laura share how this plays out in their own relationships…and why Laura has to have her wits about her when she’s naked and she knows Dalton is home. Plus Steph shares a story of a recent encounter with a brown snake at the Murray River and we hear about the one and only time Laura went kneeboarding on the river. If these stories didn’t scare you off the Aussie wildlife, check out Josh Neille on Instagram. Should I break up with them? Relationship coach Megan Luscombe answers your questions
Overwhelmingly the most common questions we receive in the KICPOD inbox are about relationships. For this episode we brought in an expert: Megan Luscombe has specialised in relationship and business coaching, working with individuals and couples, for the past 12 years. We put three different scenarios (from you) to Megan and asked for her advice: I love him but I’m not in love with him anymore I’m young and I’m scared I’m missing out on my 20’s by being in a relationship He said he wanted two kids and he changed his mind after we had one. And then we asked the most common questions that came up: am I a bad person for thinking about my ex while I’m in a relationship with someone else? How do I stop having feelings for someone who never had feelings for me? I can’t stand my partner’s family - should we break up? Birth story, prolapse & baby Parker - KICBUMP with Brooke Jowett
Brooke Jowett is a Kic trainer and an Australian Survivor All Star. Six months ago she and her partner Chris welcomed their first bub, Parker, into the world and it’s safe to say they’re obsessed. As a trainer, "the Kic HIIT girl", and a keen runner, Brooke ran until she was 26 weeks pregnant when it stopped feeling right for her body. Now she’s back running, taking it one run at a time. Brooke joins Steph to share about her birth story, her bladder prolapse, her gradual return to running, running with a pessary, and the joy that Parker has brought into her life. They also get into the TMI: what was your first poo like after giving birth? Can you feel your pessary when you have sex? Your waters broke where!? Who's answering their phone on the toilet!?
We’re a bit delulu this week! It’s the Kic shoot week so we’re a bit tired. But not as tired as Laura’s husband Dalton who was woken up in the night by Laura doing….WHAT?...in her sleep!? Plus Steph saw a woman having the time of her life singing out loud and strutting along a busy street and we asked you what has brought you joy recently. Please share with us in the KICPOD Facebook group if you’ve seen something that made you smile recently. Then we turn the delulu up to 11 and discuss the very important topic of public toilet etiquette: do you sit on, hover over, or line the toilet seat? Are you shaking or drying your hands? And would you answer your phone when you’re on the loo? Only 20% of women invest. Here’s why you shouldn’t be scared of it, with Girls That Invest founder Simran Kaur
Simran Kaur’s mission is to put money into the hands of women through investing. Most of us haven’t been taught about investing. If you haven’t, you might think it’s too hard, or too risky, or our parents told us to save our money so that’s what we’ve always done. This means that only 15-20% of women invest worldwide and in Australia only 42% of women invest compared to 58% of men, citing affordability as their main barrier to investing (according to ASX Australian Investor Study). Simran is here to change that. She is the founder of Girls That Invest: a multi-million-dollar money media company with the #1 investing podcast for women where she breaks down the intimating world of investing and growing wealth, minus the jargon. In this episode, Sim joins Steph & Laura from New Zealand to walk us through investing for a first timer: the difference in returns between saving vs investing, the different places you can invest, how long you need to keep your money in each investment, and the risk profile for each, why investing even a small amount is better than nothing, and how to get started if you truly feel like you know nothing. The advice in this episode is not personalised investing advice and is educational in nature. Remember to do your research and speak to a financial advisor for your personal situation.
