More specifically, we’re going to be diving in and dissecting the nuances of HOW it happened, WHY it happened, and HOW Harry was able to come back to life. To set the scene – we’re in the Forbidden Forest and Harry comes face-to-face with Voldemort once again. However, unlike previous confrontations – from his meeting with a fragmented Voldemort attached to Professor Quirrell, to their duel in the graveyard of Little Hangleton – this time Harry does not intend to defend himself or fight back. He’s come to die. Fans of the book will remember the chapter as the aptly named “The Forest Again” and movie lovers will certainly know this scene as the one right after Harry sees his dead loved ones through the magic of the Resurrection Stone – one of the three fabled Deathly Hallows. Today we're discussing the 10 most HATED characters in Harry Potter. Who TOPS the list? Umbridge? Malfoy? Pettigrew? Comment YOUR list below! Now, let me preface this list by saying that not all of these people are evil- in fact, some of them aren't evil at all. We must remember that being evil isn't the only prerequisite for being hated- some of these characters are just outright ANNOYING and OBNOXIOUS. Some of them made it on to the list for evil acts, and some of them made it on the list for simply popping their head up where they shouldn't have. I'll also mention that I don't really DISLIKE any of these characters, they all make the Harry Potter story more interesting, and for that I'm thankful for their existence. What kind of successful story is full of neutral characters with neutral opinions? Doesn't sound interesting to -me. I've tried to balance my own opinions with the opinions of the internet, so hopefully I've struck a reasonable balance there. My OWN top 10 list (based purely off of my own opinions) might look a little bit different. Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing Harry and Voldemort's final showdown in the Deathly Hallows part 2; the day that Lord Voldemort's tyrannical regime finally came to an end. We're also going to be discussing why every time Harry and Voldemort meet and engage in combat (which happens a fair bit), they resort to using the same spells over and over again- with Voldemort using Avada Kedavra and Harry using Expelliarmus. We see this in their graveyard duel in the Goblet of Fire, and we also see this in their final fated duel at the Battle of Hogwarts. My question is this: WHY is it that Harry Potter resorts to Expelliarmus for (seemingly) every circumstance? With the wizarding world at stake, wouldn't it make sense for Harry to use something like the killing curse? Why would he rely so heavily on a glorified disarming charm? Wouldn't Harry want to guarantee surety of Voldemort's demise? Yes Expelliarmus ended up working for Harry, largely- actually, EXCLUSIVELY due to extraneous circumstances- but I can't help but wonder why Harry would opt for a common duelling spell.
