Do Mormon Women have More Power & Authority than Those of Other Faiths? | Ep. 1880

In a recent broadcast, one of the top female leaders of the Mormon church made the following statement, “There is no other religious organization in the world that I know of, that has so broadly given power and authority to women.” (J. Anette Dennis, 1st Counselor in the LDS Church Relief Society General Presidency). Please join Amy McPhie Allebest (Breaking Down Patriarchy), Chelsea Homer (Lost & Found Club) and musical artist Mindy Gledhill as they discuss their reactions to this statement, and their experiences as women in the LDS/Mormon church. Instagram Firestorm Over LDS Women's Devotional | Ep. 1879

Join us today for a panel discussion on this week's firestorm over J. Anette Dennis's sermon broadcast to women of the church, which was uploaded to the LDS Church's official Instagram account. Panelists include: Julia Sanders, Celeste Davis, Samantha Shelley, and Alyssa Witbeck. This riveting interview takes a deep dive into the church's recent Women's Devotional - an event intended to empower female members but one that generated significant controversy. Hear candid analysis unpacking the mixed messaging around their supposed "power and authority", and the perceived dissonance between leader's rhetoric and the reality of women's restricted roles. No topic is off-limits in this thought-provoking look at how the devotional aimed to honor women's divine roles while still upholding traditional male leadership.  Alyssa Witbeck - Tik Tok Alyssa Witbeck - Instagram Zelph on the Shelf - YouTube Zelph on the Shelf - Instagram Celeste M Davis Substack Celeste Davis - Instagram Episode Show Notes YouTube Link Mormon Stories Thanks Our Generous Donors! David Bokovoy's candid interview takes you on a riveting personal journey from staunch believer to "spiritual atheist." He pulls no punches in describing how the Church's controversial 2015 LGBTQ+ policy shattered his worldview, leading him to lose his testimony and leave Mormonism behind.
