The 1986 Disappearance of 7-Month-Old Christopher Abeyta

The 1986 Disappearance of 7-Month-Old Christopher Abeyta

Skip straight to the case: (9:41)

On July 15, 1986, Christopher Abeyta was around 7 months old. He fell asleep in his older sister’s arms and was carried to his crib, which was located three feet from the bed of his parents.

When his mother Bernice awoke the following morning, Christopher was nowhere to be seen. Now, almost 40 years later, no trace of Christopher has ever been found.

The Abeyta family are adamant that someone known to the family abducted Christopher. They have publicly named a woman as a suspect. This woman was having an affair with Christopher’s father Gil, and was known to have a history of mental health issues.

Could someone have abducted Christopher and raised him as their own? Or was the baby a victim of foul play?

A game, a note, and a fall | The Death of Rey Rivera

A game, a note, and a fall | The Death of Rey Rivera

Timestamps (6:40) - Chad Daybell update (8:27) - Rey Rivera In the early months of 2006, Rey Rivera’s wife Alison said he seemed stressed and paranoid but he wouldn't elaborate on what was bothering him.  On two nights in May 2006, the alarm in the couple’s home went off in the early morning hours. Alison said Rey seemed terrified, even though police suggested a squirrel triggered the alarm. Alison left on a business trip that month and a friend of hers, Claudia was staying at their home. Claudia said Rey got a phone call and she heard him yell ‘Oh shit!’ He ran out of the house and was never seen alive again. When Alison couldn't get in touch with Rey, she cut her business trip short. Rey’s body was found in the conference room of the Belvedere Hotel on May 24, 2006. The circumstances surrounding his death have been debated online for many years. Did Rey take his own life or was there something else going on?  A mysterious note was found taped to Rey’s computer after his death and we run through the contents of the note in this episode.  Read our blog for Rey’s case We are now on Patreon! He went back to the party and was involved in some type of argument or disagreement. It was said that Noah walked away from the party. Just before 6am on September 4, Noah’s naked body was found on the side of a highway.  He was only wearing mismatched shoes.Noah’s cause of death has been confirmed as blunt force injuries and the manner of death remains undetermined. Police have confirmed they do not believe Noah’s death was the result of a hit-and-run.  How did Noah die?  Could other teens be covering up what really happened?  Or was his death a true accident? ** NOTE - this episode is from mid-May and there is a bit more info available currently than there was then, but not much. For example, we now know the party was not at Noah's best friend's house but a girl's house he was friends with **

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE CRIME CONTENT, PLEASE CHECK THE RELEVANT TIMESTAMPS. (9:40) - Mica Miller follow up (16:25) - Sugar Baby Murders In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss two cases of young women who were murdered by their ‘sugar daddies’. Sugar dating is a pseudo-romantic relationship between an older wealthy person and a younger, usually significantly poorer, person. Many sugar babies are college/university students who are looking for a way to pay off their debt. Mackenzie Lueck met Ayoola Ajayi online in 2019. The two planned to meet up after her flight home for her grandmother's funeral. But, Ayoola had ulterior motives and planned to murder her. When Mackenzie got to his home, he tied her up and strangled her. Ayoola then attempted to burn Mackenzie’s remains and belongings in his backyard, in full view of his AirBnB renter and neighbors.  Liliya (Lily) Guyvoronsky (20) had been dating Bothell City Council member James McNeal (58) for months. James recently left his wife and three children to be with her. Lily detailed their relationship in her diary and in messages to her friends. 'He is really controlling and I can tell he thinks I'm stupid because I am young,' she wrote. In April 2024, the two got into an argument and James allegedly killed Lily. James called his attorney to the scene who called 911 to report the murder. James is currently in jail awaiting trial, scheduled for July.   Read our blog for these cases We are now on Patreon! Moms Who Murder | Jasmine Thomas & Savannah Kriger

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE CRIME CONTENT, PLEASE CHECK THE RELEVANT TIMESTAMPS. (10:26) - Delphi & Suzanne Morphew Updates (27:36) - Moms who murder A mother’s role is to protect her children and to keep them safe in all situations.  Sometimes though, things go very wrong within the family unit. Australian mother Jasmine Thomas had been struggling following the pandemic.  She suffered from depression after the births of her two children and the pandemic made her increasingly paranoid.  One night in 2022, she told her husband that she was taking their two daughters to McDonald’s.  After getting McDonald's, Jasmine drove her children to a remote area off the highway and set the vehicle on fire with her and the children inside.  All three of them died within minutes. Texas woman Savannah Kriger was going through a messy divorce with her husband Brian.  A custody hearing regarding their son Kaiden was scheduled in March 2024.  On the day of the hearing, Savannah went to Brian’s home and destroyed every piece of clothing that he owned.  She then shot bullets through her wedding portraits and laid her wedding dresses out on the bed.  She picked up Kaiden from daycare and made him call Brian to say goodbye.  She then shot her son before taking her own life. In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the cases of two mothers who murder – Jasmine Thomas and Savannah Kriger.  Read our blog for these cases There have also been updates in two previously covered cases and we also discuss: The delay of Richard Allen’s trial.  Richard is accused of killing Delphi teens Liberty German and Abigail Williams.  His trial was due to start in mid May and has now been pushed out to later in 2024. Suzanne Morphew’s autopsy results have come back.  Suzanne went missing on Mother’s Day in 2020 and her remains were found last year.  Suzanne’s cause of death has been determined as “Homicide by undetermined means in the setting of butorphanol, azaperone, and medetomidine (BAM)  intoxication.”  BAM is a potent tranquilizer that only licensed veterinarians can prescribe.  Interestingly, Suzanne’s husband Barry had access to BAM for hunting purposes. The Springfield Three | Unsolved 32 Years Later

Timestamps: (9:56) - Springfield Three How can three women simply vanish? On June 7, 1992, Suzie Streeter and her friend Stacy McCall were celebrating their high school graduation.  They went to multiple parties and caught up with friends.  After police were called to one of the parties, the two girls decided to call it a night and headed back to Suzie’s home to spend the night. Suzie and Stacy made it back to the house - their vehicles, purses and other belongings were there.  What happened after they got home is unknown to this day.  The girls along with Suzie’s mother, Sherrill Levitt, vanished and are still missing 32 years later. Police have said the blinds were pulled back as if the women had been looking outside just before they disappeared.  It is believed that Stacy left the home only wearing a t-shirt and underwear, as all of her other belongings are accounted for.   A lamp shade on the front porch of the home was broken but there were no other signs of a struggle.   In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the cold case disappearance of The Springfield Three. Brian Cohee hid Warren Barnes' dismembered remains in his closet for his mother to find

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE CRIME CONTENT, PLEASE CHECK THE RELEVANT TIMESTAMPS. (6:25) Gypsy update (9:50) Bryan Kohberger stargazes (23:02) Brian Cohee Brian Cohee II was a troubled teen who suffered from mental disorders and was interested in “death and morbidity. In February 2021, after a movie night with his parents, Brian left their home in search of a victim.  He came across a homeless man named Warren Barnes sleeping under a bridge.  Brian stabbed Warren multiple times with a kitchen knife before decapitating and dismembering him.  Brian put Warren’s head and hands in a bag and took them home with him - stashing them in his closet . Brian’s mother Terri came across the bag covered in maggots days later.   She called police immediately and they arrived to question Brian.  There is infamous shocking footage of Brian confidently admitting to the murder. “Police, they don’t seem to care as much about high-risk individuals: homeless people, prostitutes, etc,” he said. “So I was deliberately looking for someone who lived that type of life.” “I’m like, that’s a homeless person, so I grabbed my knife, I put on three layers of gloves because plastic gloves can betray their users because they’re so thin…I took the knife, I pulled back the canvas and I stabbed his neck,” he later said. Read our blog for this case In other news, Bryan Kohberger and his team have released some more information about his alibi on the night of the Moscow murders.  He was apparently driving around, looking at the moon and stars.  We discuss this groundbreaking alibi in this episode. Missing Women Veronica Butler & Jilian Kelley Murdered By "God's Misfits"

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE CRIME CONTENT, PLEASE CHECK THE RELEVANT TIMESTAMPS. (8:32) - OJ Simpson’s death  (14:07) - Dylan Rounds (17:24) - Crumbley Update (22:34) - Veronica Butler & Jilian Kelley Veronica Butler was involved in a fierce custody battle with her ex regarding their two children. Over the years, there had been allegations of abuse by other family members. In March 2024, Veronica was only able to see her children via supervised visits due to the allegations. On March 30, Veronica set out with Jilian Kelley to pick up her children to attend a birthday party.  Jilian was an acquaintance who had been allowed by the court to supervise Veronica’s visits with her children.   The two women would never arrive to pick up the children.  Their vehicle was found abandoned in a remote area. Pools of blood, a hammer and gun paraphernalia was found at the scene.  Four people have now been arrested in relation to this case.  They are Tad Cullum, Tifany Adams, Cole Twombly, and Cora Twombly.  This case is a very tangled web - Tifany was Veronica’s ex-mother-in-law.  The newly released affidavit suggests that the women were murdered because Tifany was concerned that Veronica would soon be granted unsupervised visitation with the kids.   In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the brutal murders of Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley. Read our blog for this case We also discuss: OJ Simpson Died The body of missing teen Dylan Rounds has just been recovered.   Dylan’s alleged murderer led police to his remains in early April 2024.  Jennifer and James Crumbley, parents of school shooter Ethan Crumbley, have been sentenced for their role in the massacre.  We are now on Patreon!
