#82 Senator Lynn Evans: Defending Iowa Values—from Education to Property Rights

#82 Senator Lynn Evans: Defending Iowa Values—from Education to Property Rights

In this episode, I sit down with Iowa Senator Lynn Evans—a former educator, school superintendent, and one of the “Dauntless Dozen” who took a bold stand for property rights this session.

We dive into his journey from education to politics and why he felt compelled to step into public office to defend parental rights, educational integrity, and the constitutional freedoms we hold dear. We talk about the challenges facing Iowa’s education system—from Common Core and federal overreach to social ideologies creeping into the classroom—and what it’s going to take to get back to basics.

We also explore the fight over eminent domain for private pipeline projects, Iowa’s growing concerns about water quality, and the critical need for unbiased research on environmental and public health issues. Senator Evans shares his thoughts on the teacher shortage and why alternate licensure pathways could help rebuild the profession.

This is a grounded, honest conversation about the issues that matter most—where real change happens: at the local level.
