Cincinnati - Is tennis losing a generation?

Cincinnati - Is tennis losing a generation?

Catherine, David and Matt are back to talk about the opening stages of Cincinnati which has seen brutal temperatures, a power outage, and plenty of compelling tennis too.

Part one - ATP Results. We start by taking stock of the careers of Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud after their struggles continued. There’s also Lorenzo Musetti’s poor form on hard courts, both Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz immediately going out to practise after their latest victories, another tricky week for Joao Fonseca, and a surprise defeat for Alex de Minaur.

Part two - WTA Results (45m45s). The match of the tournament so far was Aryna Sabalenka’s three hour victory over Emma Raducanu. We discuss Sabalenka’s phenomenal tiebreak record, really encouraging signs for Raducanu, and our impressions of the early glimpses of her coaching partnership with Francisco Roig. There’s also Madison Keys saving match points to win yet again and Amanda Anisimova losing to Anna Kalinskaya.

Part three - Details of our live show in Wrexham on Wednesday 22nd October!

Live from Wimbledon Day 6 - Swiatek comes up short on grass again; RaducAndy gate

At the end of an eventful day at Wimbledon, Catherine, David and Matt begin the show by discussing Iga Swiatek's shock third round defeat to Yulia Putintseva. There's analysis of what Putintseva did so well tactically, where it went wrong for Swiatek, how Swiatek reacted in her post match press conference, and whether she will ever crack grass. Last year's finalist, Ons Jabeur, was also beaten as the top half of the women's draw opened up. But Elena Rybakina put in a statement performance to thrash Caroline Wozniacki. On the men's side, there's great excitement about a fourth round clash between Holger Rune and Novak Djokovic after their late night victories, and Ben Shelton vs Jannik Sinner is previewed. The other big story was Emma Raducanu's withdrawal from the mixed doubles, meaning Andy Murray's Wimbledon career is over. We give our reaction to her decision. Live from Wimbledon Day 2 - Murray: It wasn’t meant to be; Champ Vondrousova crashes out

Live from Wimbledon Day 2 - Murray: It wasn’t meant to be; Champ Vondrousova crashes out

It was an emotional day at Wimbledon as Marketa Vondrousova was beaten in the first round and revealed that the pressure and nerves of being the defending champion were too much. Catherine, David and Matt talk a lot about that and get to know her opponent, Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, who played superbly and has an epic tattoo. Before all that, Andy Murray withdrew from the singles, leaving the pod team feeling a mixture of sadness and relief. He was replaced on Centre Court by Jack Draper who did his best Murray impression over five sets. Elsewhere, there's analysis of impressive first round wins (for different reasons) for Iga Swiatek and Novak Djokovic, a tough but familiar loss for Andrey Rublev, a statement performance from Jelena Ostapenko, and much more.
