Unlocked Door, Silent Cry: The Murders of Nikki Anderson and Adrienne Hale

Nikki was just days away from starting a new life in San Diego with her fiancé when someone she likely trusted walked through her unlocked door. By the next evening, both Nikki and Adrienne were found strangled—Nikki also the victim of a violent sexual assault—while her infant son, Marcus, was left alive amidst the horror.

With no signs of forced entry or robbery, suspicion initially fell on Adrienne’s father, the last person to see them alive, but he was eventually cleared. Decades later, partial DNA evidence has given investigators hope, even pointing toward someone they believe they “know,” but the killer’s name remains just out of reach.

Sierra and Elizabeth walk you through the chilling timeline, the suspects, the mysterious decision to spare Marcus’s life, and the decades-long search for answers in a case that still casts a long shadow over this small Navy town.
