How Max Strus' Injury Impacts the Starting Lineup for the Cleveland Cavaliers

On this episode of Locked On Cavs, Danny Cunningham (The Inside Shot, Cleveland Magazine, 92.3 The Fan) examines the Cleveland Cavaliers' potential starting lineup and rotation changes for the upcoming NBA season. With injuries to Max Strus and Darius Garland, Danny analyzes various lineup options, focusing on the roles of Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen as likely starters. He makes a case for De'Andre Hunter as the starting small forward, citing improved team performance when Hunter plays the 3. The podcast explores Sam Merrill's potential increased role at shooting guard and provides in-depth statistical analysis of different lineup combinations using data from Cleaning the Glass. Danny also discusses future lineup considerations upon Garland's return, predicting a starting five of the "core four" plus Hunter. Throughout the episode, he offers insights into how these early-season adjustments might benefit the Cavs in the long run by forcing lineup experimentation.
