Barnsley 1-3 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Steve Cooper took his Forest side to South Yorkshire to face Barnsley - a team who've inflicted damage upon the Reds in recent years - and the new head coach picked up his first win since taking charge with an enjoyable 3-1 success. Forest shaded the first half but it was Barnsley who led on 20 minutes, as Cauley Woodrow converted the penalty he'd won after being hauled down in the box by Tobias Figuereido. Forest fought back in the second half, though, with the introduction of Lewis Grabban for Figuereido and a switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation providing the catalyst for goals. Grabban released Brennan Johnson down the right-hand side and he squared the ball across goal to provide Philip Zinckernagel with a simple tap-in, before Johnson made it 2-1 with a neat finish soon after. Grabban later got his goal after Alex Mighten's trickery saw him get away down the left before sliding the ball across for Grabban to convert. Forest were rewarded for a positive display as they took advantage of gaps in the Barnsley defence and it's possible they could have had even more on a night that provided plenty of enjoyment for the travelling Reds at Oakwell, as well as those watching on TV. Steven is joined by Tom for this match report, where they reflect on the impact Cooper is already having with the team, his positive substitutions on the night and Forest serving up some enjoyable attacking football. Memory lane: Norwich City 0-1 Nottingham Forest, 12 April 1995

Baz remembers the long midweek visit to Carrow Road in 1995, as high-flying Forest took on Norwich City. Much of the match was unremarkable, but the second half saw a small but vocal away support turned the volume up a notch, and a late goal from Steve Stone saw Forest take the points. OK, so there is no football at the moment, but there is still plenty to discuss: is the enforced break good for Forest; Sabri Lamouchi's contract; Forest furloughing some of their staff; and who does the best workout videos - Matty Cash or Joao Carvalho? In the second of our series, Rich Ferraro stays in the astonishing 1994-95 season. Two each from Roy and Collymore added to a missile from Pearce, a smart run and finish from Woan and yet another sublime finish from Bohinen that had to be seen to be believed. Jeremy Davies is taking us back in time to the autumn of 1994. Forest had just been promoted and had made a blistering unbeaten start to the season. Thrown to the Lions: Nottingham Forest 0-3 Millwall mini match report

Millwall put in a tactical masterclass in the first half, earning them three goals and three points.
