Nottingham Forest 2-1 Derby County: The 1865 Match Report

Nottingham Forest 2-1 Derby County: The 1865 Match Report

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. A derby day that had the lot; a Forest win, drama, memorable goals and even a bust-up at the end! This Saturday lunchtime clash saw Forest secure a 2-1 victory over Derby and extend their unbeaten run against their rivals to 10 matches. Forest lined up without the injured Joe Worrall, so Ryan Yates moved into the back three alongside Steve Cook and Scott McKenna, whilst ex-Derby man Max Lowe made his return from the sidelines at left wing-back. However, an uninsipiring start saw Steve Cooper switch to a 4-3-2-1 formation in the first half, but aside from a huge miss by Derby's Tom Lawrence, the opening 45 didn't offer much. The second half got off to a flyer, as Lewis Grabban netted his third goal in as many games and 13th of the season, pouncing after Cook's attempted shot was blocked into his path. With eight minutes remaining, Brennan Johnson started and finished a fine move, exchanging passes with Philip Zinckernagel before firing into the bottom corner of the net for 2-0. Derby pulled a goal back from the penalty spot through Lawrence, at which point the midfielder was barged out of the way by Brice Samba (sporting a headband after a previous accidental clash with the Derby no. 10), sparking a heated clash inside the goal. The visitors, in the midst of their well-publicised off-field issues, couldn't find an equaliser. Ravel Morrison was given a straight red for a reckless challenge on Zinckernagel, while at the final whistle another melee broke out as the Forest players and fans enjoyed their victory, with the Reds retaining the Brian Clough Trophy. The Maradona of the Midlands is joined by Baz and Steven to talk over an eventful East Midlands Derby, where they look at the tactical battle of the first half, Forest's improved second half showing, the brilliance of Brennan's goal and Samba having the Derby players on strings. Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Waka waka eh eh? The game was probably second to the occasion as Forest's army of travelling fans supported the team to an away point. Having scored Forest's first Premier League goal this season, Taiwo Awoniyi also got the last, hitting double figures in his debut Premier League campaign. However, Will Hughes' header deflected off Willy Boly to earn the hosts a point, which meant that everyone was probably happy enough. Rich Ferraro is joined by Tom and Adam, both fresh back from a long day in the capital, to reflect upon the trip to Selhurst Park and the sense of occasion as the Reds' fans celebrated survival and the players and staff joined in, including Mr Marinakis. We'll be back with our end of season review and a couple of podcast specials over the summer, so stay tuned! Nottingham Forest 1-0 Arsenal: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

THEY DID IT! WE DID IT! Forest preserved their Premier League status with a game to spare, as they defeated Arsenal at the City Ground, destroying the visitors' faint title hopes in the process. The game wasn't massively memorable, but the occasion was immense - the City Ground has never been so loud and the team, staff and fans were jubilant at the final whistle. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz to discuss the game, and the genius that is Stevie Cooper. Emilka Forest joins with her views on the atmosphere, celebrations and Mr Marinakis' decision to stick with the gaffer. Callum Castel also joins us to provide the latest news roundup, and there are cameo appearances from Steven and Adam on a jubilant day for the Reds. Chelsea 2-2 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Chelsea 2-2 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

A tense and battling performance earned the Reds a point, but for a while it felt like it could have been more. A header in each half from Taiwo Awoniyi put Forest in the lead, then pulled them back into contention, either side of Raheem Sterling's (preventable) brace. Rich Ferraro is joined by the Maradona of the Midlands to discuss the game, with Callum Castel providing the latest news roundup. Time will tell if this point is enough, but for now the Reds are three points outside of the relegation zone, before next week's big match against Arsenal rounds off the City Ground season.
