Nottingham Forest 2-0 Birmingham City: The 1865 Match Report

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Birmingham City: The 1865 Match Report

Steve Cooper's Mighty Reds ascended to third in the league, albeit in a match overshadowed by a serious-looking injury to visiting keeper Neil Etheridge. Forest took an early lead with Keinan Davis' blasted finish, although that only told part of the story as the build up evoked memories of the Chuckle Brothers and the Isley Brothers. After Etheridge was stretchered off midway through the second period, the mighty Scott McKenna sealed the points with a header from Jimmy Garner's corner. Rich Ferraro and Baz review the match, with a view from the away end from Tom of the Blues Focus Podcast. Rich and Baz then dare to dream - with five consecutive victories, favourable results elsewhere, and second-placed Bournemouth having a tricky run-in, can the Reds really challenge for automatic promotion? Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester United & The 1865 Friday Five: 1st March 2024

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester United & The 1865 Friday Five: 1st March 2024

A disappointing result as the Reds conceded a late goal to a set piece (again) to exit the FA Cup. In truth, Forest more than matched the visitors for much of the match, and even though United probably were the better team, the commitment and performance levels from the home team were good. As well as reporting on the game, Rich Ferraro and The Maradona of the Midlands also discuss the top five news stories from the City Ground, brought to you by Jamie Martin: PSR hearing starts next week AFCON injuries Murillo to Atletico? New goalkeeping coach Defeat to Man Utd, Liverpool match this weekend As you can tell, our reporting deadline meant that we missed the statement from Tom Cartledge, threatening to leave the City Ground - we will discuss that early next week. In the meantime, we will be back with a report on Saturday's big Premier League game as Nuno's Reds pit their wits against Klopp's youngsters. Aston Villa 4-2 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Aston Villa 4-2 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Forest lost away to an Aston Villa team who look exceptional under Unai Emery, but you could argue that the Reds were once again masters of their own downfall with poor defending leaving them 3-0 down before they even got going. Moussa Niakhate and Morgan Gibbs-White scored either side of the break to give hope to the visitors, but Villa took control again and scored a fourth after more poor defending. George Edwards and Ellie Molloson report back from the away end at Villa Park, with thoughts about playing the big Senegalese at left-back and the merits of Divock Origi. We also hear from Neil of For The Love of Paul McGrath podcast, with his thoughts on the game and the Reds' prospects. Nottingham Forest 2-0 West Ham United: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Nottingham Forest 2-0 West Ham United: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Well, that felt good didn't it? A strong performance by the Reds at home to hapless West Ham was capped by a goal in stoppage time at the end of each half by Taiwo Awoniyi and Callum Hudson-Odoi respectively. Forest had much to be pleased about, and will only wish that they had scored the five or six goals that they threatened, with keeper Alphonse Areola the strongest player for the visitors. Baz is joined by Adam to discuss the game, the performance, the goals and yet another penalty not give by the ref or VAR. They have kind words for Nico Dominguez and Neco Williams, and speculate whether this could be a turning point. We'll be back with the Friday 5 followed by the Aston Villa report next week - do join us if you can. Nottingham Forest 2-3 Newcastle United: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Nottingham Forest 2-3 Newcastle United: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Annoyingly, frustratingly and disappointingly, Forest's poor home form continues, as despite fighting back twice, poor defending cost them three goals and Newcastle took all three points. The big talking point was the penalty shout when Martin Dubravka clearly made contact with Taiwo Awoniyi in the area, but the ref didn't give anything and VAR chose not to ask him to have a look. George Edwards was joined by Baz to discuss the Reds' porous backline and the performance levels; we also hear from Jack from the Toon Under Podcast with the Geordie view. We'll be back at the end of the week with our Friday 5 - thanks for listening. Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

A great goal by Callum Hudson-Odoi was the only real moment of quality in a scrappy game that was epitomised by Phillip Billing's red card for a nasty challenge on the Reds winger. Forest had conceded an early goal in a slow start, and after the late sending off, will feel that they should have got more from the game. Steven Toplis is joined by Adam after a long journey back from the south coast; we also hear from Bournemouth fan Jon Spark from the Cherries Red Army podcast.
