Treating Opioid Dependency

Treating Opioid Dependency

Opioids are a highly effective drug when used to treat acute pain, but the downside is that many people who use them can quickly become addicted. The human body easily develops a tolerance for opioids, prompting many to start increasing the amount of the drug they take, often leading to drug dependency and possibly an overdose. Breaking an opioid addiction can be difficult, but not impossible. In this episode, Bowen Health Recovery Center Medical Director, Dr. Carolyn Warner-Greer, sits down to talk about treating patients with an opioid dependency.
