Dr. Mark Greenawald: How to Improve Well-being

Everyone experiences stress differently, but no one experiencing the pressures of practicing family medicine should feel alone. In this episode, Mark Greenawald, M.D., FAAFP, talks about the importance of making and maintaining connections with colleagues, among other steps Academy members can take to make their well-being a priority.

The conversation touches on the AAFP's resources for improving well-being, including this year's upcoming Physician Health and Well-being Conference. Dr. Greenawald also emphasizes the need for belonging and grace as safeguards against administrative burden and burnout.

Dr. Greenawald is director of the AAFP's Physician Health and Well-being Conference. He is a professor and vice chair of the Family and Community Medicine Department at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, medical director of the Carilion Clinic Institute for Leadership Effectiveness and a former president of the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians.
