EP285: Finding Calm in Chaos is a Skill Set We Have to Learn with Jenna Hermans
“Life will always be chaotic, but you can own your calm within the chaos.”Finding calm in chaos is a skill set we have to learn. Constant chaos in our lives leads to stress/overwhelm and, typically, everyone around us suffers too. I'm so excited about today’s interview with Jenna Hermans, the author of Chaos to Calm: Five Ways Busy Parents Can Break Free from Overwhelm. She’s an expert on helping parents move away from chaos and into calmness so that we can all create intentional lives that allow each member of the family to thrive. In this conversation, we talk about the "Five Pillars of Calm", the importance of communication, how Jenna has calmed her chaos and more.-----------------------Links Discussed in This EpisodeOrder a Copy of Minimalist Moms: Living and Parenting with SimplicityBook: Why We Sleep by Matthew WalkerPodcast: Dr. Matthew Walker: The Science & Practice of Perfecting Your Sleep | Huberman Lab Podcast #31Connect with Jenna:WebsiteInstagramBook: Chaos to CalmView the entire shownotes page.Enjoy this Podcast?Learning how you can get rid of clutter and live an intentional and purposeful life has never been this simple. EP281: Too Many Clothes, Nothing to Wear with Erin Flynn (@cladwellapp)
“I have too many clothes but nothing to wear.” It’s a common phrase that many of us think as we peer into our closets. But is there a solution? It’s my personal belief that decluttering can absolutely solve this problem; however, I think there are even more ways we can address this mentality. Joining me today to help find solutions to closet overwhelm is founder of the Cladwell app, Erin Flynn. As a working mom with limited time, Erin understands the challenges that many of us face when it comes to our wardrobes. She believes in the concept of "less is more," helping people refine their personal style, shop smarter, and get creative with their existing wardrobe. Erin emphasizes the importance of normalizing outfit repeats, living intentionally, shopping from our own closets, and, of course, clearing the clutter. The episode delves into these topics and more!-----------------------Links Discussed in This EpisodeOrder a Copy of Minimalist Moms: Living and Parenting with SimplicityBeneficial Resource: Rich Roll Podcast | Adam Grant Podcast | Brene Brown PodcastConnect with Erin:InstagramWebsiteApp: Cladwell AppEnjoy this Podcast?Learning how you can get rid of clutter and live an intentional and purposeful life has never been this simple. EP280: Am I a Minimalist Because I'm Surrounded By MAXIMALISTS? with Melissa Risenhoover
If you’ve been pursuing a minimalist lifestyle for awhile now, have you ever thought to yourself, “Am I a minimalist because I’m surrounded by maximalists?” In other words, am I able to enjoy the lavishness of someone else’s lifestyle without having to live that way in my day-to-day? The thought crossed my mind a few years back and I knew I wanted to discuss the idea on a future episode. Joining me for this conversation is Melissa Risenhoover. Fun fact about this episode: Melissa and I actually recorded at the beginning of 2021. We put the release date on hold due to Melissa’s move to Shanghai. When I finally went back to look for the recording, I thought I had lost it only to discover it last week on an old computer. After listening back, I knew this was a sentiment I wanted to share with all of you. There isn’t necessarily a conclusion we come to during the conversation, I do believe it’s something each person must conclude for themselves. If anything, I hope this dialogue gives you something to think about as you process why minimalism is important to you and your family. -----------------------Links Discussed in This EpisodeOrder a Copy of Minimalist Moms: Living and Parenting with SimplicityConnect with Melissa:YoutubeEnjoy this Podcast?Learning how you can get rid of clutter and live an intentional and purposeful life has never been this simple.
