May 19th: Jenny Read Found (1976) Twice a year, the town of Chevy Chase, Maryland, asks its citizens to clear out their attics and garages and place all their unwanted items on the curb for pick up. Many troll the areas for unwanted treasures and others use it as a spring cleaning and await the trash pick up. Among these items were the sketchbooks, photos and journals of a San Francisco artist named Jenny Read. Jenny, as the recipient of her items would soon realize, had her life tragically ended before she could make a name for herself in the art world, her body found on May 19th 1976. A murder that would take 33 years to finally solve.
