Ep. 1 Bonus: Sherman Indian High School

Sherman Indian High School was once part of systematic genocide against Native Americans. It attempted to extinguish language and culture and millennia of sustainable, traditional practice. Now it’s a place of healing. Lorene Sisquoc details how the school changed its purpose during the civil rights movement to become a place where traditional culture is celebrated. From the Miss Sherman pageant to outdoor classes on gathering plants, the school revitalizes practices we need now more than ever in the time of climate change.
