Real Men Cry

Real Men Cry

The fabric of modern western society has taken away the space for boys and men to be human beings. We are laughed at and mocked at any sign of emotion and yet we are told to be more compassionate and kind to our partners, friends and selves. The baseline for our experience is not reflective of the expectations of the world. In this episode I dive into my journey to learning how to cry, why I think it's important that men have a place to express emotions and how telling boys it's not OK to cry is destroying them. The Power of Words

The Power of Words

Have you ever wondered why certain words impact you in either positive or negative way? Have you found yourself allowed words to impact and change the direction of your day or even the course of your life. Words are a powerful tool in the journey of the adults survivor of childhood trauma. The words we use and that are used towards us are a reflection of ourselves. If we are the story that we tell ourselves then wouldn't it be true that the words in our story are just as important as the story itself? In this episode of The Michael Unbroken Podcast I explore the most powerful word in my life and how you can change the way that words impact you. I also created a workbook about the Power of Words to share with you that is a companion to this podcast. I created this workbook from a selection of the Think Unbroken Academy. You can download that workbook for free here: www.thinkunbroken.com/words This podcast will cover: Creating power statements around words, why the word broken should be stripped of our vocabulary, and a reminder to join the first online training for the Think Unbroken Academy. How ownership is the first step in healing childhood trauma and abuse

How ownership is the first step in healing childhood trauma and abuse

The number one question that I get asked is how to start to heal from childhood trauma. The number one answer that I give people is ownership. What does ownership mean? In this episode of the Michael Unbroken Podcast I break down what ownership means, how to leverage your story to start your healing journey why it is through admitting that we were hurt that we can create the life that we want. Healing from childhood trauma and abuse is not easy but the journey begins with acknowledging that we are hurt and facing ourselves and our truth. There are so many different healing modalities and practices that you can implement in recovering from abuse but the most important is making a decision and a choice to own your past, present and future. In ownership comes a newfound lease on life and a new direction. This episode will cover: Ownership, reconciling your past, using your past to create your future, how the childhood trauma brain works, and a secret message at the end! Seeking yourself

Seeking yourself

Welcome to the first episode of The Michael Unbroken Podcast. In this episode I share my thoughts about why sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is leave everything behind. Many people confused the idea of going towards who I am and running away from my past, responsibilities and the person I used to be. In this episode I explore the how I made a decision to leave Indiana, move to Portland and then leave Portland in an effort to grow and better understand myself.
