The Morbach Monster
On this episode of Expanded Perspectives the guys start the show off talking about Kyle's trip down to the coast in Galveston and Cam's camping trip to a dark sky region of northern Texas where he's going to attempt to shoot the Milky Way with his camera. Then, Kyle reads a listener story that was sent to them about a haunted fraternity house. Apparently the house was haunted possibly by the ghost of young girl who was killed in a car wreck as well as strange black mass. Then, Cam brings up some strange sightings of the famous Thunderbird in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. After the break Cam brings up some more sightings of Dogman or Werewolf including the crazy story of the Morbach Monster. There’s a lycan whose allegedly been running around the Wittlich Area of Germany since the early 1810s. This particularly nasty werewolf, known as the Morbach Monster, is worth mentioning because of its notorious origin and rather contemporary sighting. The legend of the Morbach Monster begins with a soldier named Thomas Johannes Baptist Schwytzer, who had a unique military career. He served in Napolean’s Grande Armee during the commander’s failed attempt to conquer Russia. Schwytzer was there when the Russians abandoned Moscow in 1812 and set fire to the city, ultimately destroying three-quarters of it. Decimated by battle, disease and starvation, Napolean’s army was effectively in ruin. Sensing defeat and fearing for his life, Schwytzer deserted Napolean and fled back to his home in Alsace. Schwytzer fell in with a group of Russian deserters who joined him on his journey back to France. Roughly 160 miles north of Alsace, the group came upon the rural German village of Wittlich. Desperately in need of supplies, the men raided a farmhouse and, tragically, murdered the family of farmers. According to the legend, the farmer’s wife, who helplessly watched the slaughter of her husband and sons, placed the following curse on Schwytzer: ‘From now on, at each full moon, you will change into a rapid wolf!’ she cried. Infuriated by her scorn, Schwytzer crushed the woman’s skull but it was too late. His ill-fated attempt to avoid the curse failed. All of this and more on this installment of Expanded Perspectives! More Hauntings/The White Witch of Jamaica
On this episode of Expanded Perspectives the guys start the show off chatting about what they've been up to lately. Then the get right into the news where a person tells Lon over at Phantoms and Monsters a very interesting story. The person claims that when they were very young about 3 years old, they had multiple encounters with large Ant People. Some researchers claim that these giant Ant People are really just the Greys! Even a small group of Native Americans talk about the Ant People that lived in the local caves and caverns. Then, Cam brings up a new interesting find in the Philippines. Researchers in the Philippines announced today that they have discovered a species of ancient human previously unknown to science. The small-bodied hominin, named Homo luzonensis, lived on the island of Luzon at least 50,000 to 67,000 years ago. The hominin—identified from a total of seven teeth and six small bones—hosts a patchwork of ancient and more advanced features. The landmark discovery, announced in Nature on Wednesday, makes Luzon the third Southeast Asian island in the last 15 years to bear signs of unexpectedly ancient human activity. After the break Cam brings up some more hauntings and Kyle brings up the legend of The White Witch of Jamaica. All of this and more on this installment of Expanded Perspectives! Haunted Retail/Vampire of Sacramento
On this episode of Expanded Perspectives, the guys start the show off talking about how they both narrowly escaped a horrible hail storm and tornado recently. They talk about the Stanley Cup playoffs as well as Kyle disliking of the Pittsburg Penguins. Then they start the news. First up another Glimmer Man sighting from Kentucky. One night while out getting medicine for his sick wife a man saw something strange in the road. A deer was being pursed by something, but what? Then, a man in Logan County, Oklahoma claims he saw an unidentified bipedal creature. He and his dog were sitting on their porch in October of 2018 when they saw something disturbing. The man said he saw two deer running south and then, seconds later, a biped running in the same direction. After the Break Cam brings up several strange sightings in and around retail stores and Kyle brings up the serial killer simply known as The Vampire of Sacramento. Born on May 23, 1950, Richard Chase was later to become one of America’s most notorious serial killers. Earning the nickname, “Vampire of Sacramento,” he terrorized California and drank the blood of his victims to satisfy a persistent delusion. Under the belief that Nazis were attempting to turn his blood into powder, he drank blood to ward off this medical disaster. Born into a strict family and subject to much physical abuse by his father, Richard Chase began showing signs of mental illness early. He became dependent on alcohol in his childhood and made a habit of starting fires and mutilating animals. As a teenager, he could not sustain normal sexual function without the aid of disturbing practices, such as necrophilia and animal murder. His delusions began around this time and his father forced him to move to his own apartment, where he began to eat animals raw after he killed them. In December of 1977 he had his first killing of another human being. This time a drive by shooting of man just carrying in his groceries. He went on to kill many more before he was eventually caught by police. Richard Chase was sentenced to death in prison by means of the gas chamber. Before the system could kill him, he saved up his prescribed anti-depressants and overdosed on them in his cell, effectively ending his life. Black Stick Man/Phantom 309
On this episode of Expanded Perspectives, the guys start the show off talking about some new sound effects that Kyle has been working on and his recent failed Turkey hunt. After the discussion about hunting and how big of an idiot Kyle is, they start with some news. First off, a person by the name of DG recalls a strange sighting they had one night around 2:00am on the west side of Joliet, Illinois. The person was just chillin watching some television with the windows open when they heard what sounded like a woman screaming. Upon closer inspection the person saw some large humanoid with black wings perched on a neighbor's roof! Then, a Utah man claims he was just looking through his spotting scope in his backyard when he spotted something strange on one of the nearby mountain sides. He grabbed his phone and shot a short clip of something upright, hominid looking walking up a ridge. Was it Bigfoot? The man who shot the footage certainly thinks so. After the break Kyle brings up some more of these strange sightings of the Black Stick Man! The Black Stick Men are a species of strange humanoid beings rarely seen by humans. They are often described as being similar to typical cartoon stick men, making them some of the strangest beings ever encountered. Black Stick Men are often described as being exactly identical to the typical cartoon stick man: tall, thin, and black in color. They are said to move in an odd galloping motion; some are even said to float above the ground. Supposedly they are two-dimensional creatures, meaning they are exactly the same regardless of what angle they are viewed from. A variant kind of enromous stick men have occassionally been seen in the UK. Then Cam brings up the true story behind the famous song Phantom 309. On Jan. 29, 1963, John William “Pete” Trudelle drove a tanker truck to the Chelsea River Bulk Petroleum Facility north of Boston to load up on 4,600 gallons of gasoline. Trudelle turned around and started to make the several-hour trip back to Keene, New Hampshire, near the eastern bank of the Connecticut River, just across from the state of Vermont. He started up Route 1, just north of Boston in Saugus, Mass., on the Newburyport Turnpike. The intersection of Route 129 and Route 1 in Saugus was treacherous. Trudelle passed under the bridge, where a blind spot impeded drivers as they went into a dip. Little did Trudelle know that there was a car stopped under the bridge, where it was waiting for a school bus to pick up children. There was no way Trudelle could stop. Rather than plowing into the back of the two vehicles stopped, he crashed the tanker into the bridge abutment. Trudelle was unable to escape the cab as the 4,600 gallons of gas erupted. The driver of the car, Robert Mayer of Stamford, Connecticut, tried to escape, but was overtaken by the flames. The bus was engulfed in flames, but the six children and the driver on board had time to escape. About 10 seconds after the passengers and driver got out, the bus burst into flames. Santiago Flight 513-More Giant Ground Sloths-OTC#6
On this episode of Expanded Perspectives Off The Cuff, the guys start the show off talking about Cam's recent bow hunting adventures and the enormous wild hog he just shot with his Black Widow recurve. Then Kyle brings up the strange story of an airliner that went missing for almost 4 decades. The account of the Santiago Flight 513 is truly one of the most mysterious and mind-bending encounters on record. One where a plane took off from Germany in 1954, disappeared and was presumed crashed, before reappearing again over the skies of Brazil some thirty-five years later and performing a perfect, standard landing. What’s more, the aircraft appeared brand new as opposed to nearly four decades old. Although the story first appeared in ‘World Weekly News’, which would usually result in its instant dismissal by even the most enthusiastic researcher of strange events, the legend has endured, lasted, and been much debated. And the fact that the plane disappeared without a trace is most certainly a fact. Did it reappear in 1989, then? And if not, what was the mysterious plane that did? And who did the skeletons they found on board belong to? Should the connections of the plane to the Lockheed group be any reason for suspicion? Is it a real story or just urban legend? Then, Cam brings up more sightings of the Giant Ground Sloth or the Mapinguari! The legend of the Mapinguari is not only one of the most terrifying monster stories in modern times, but may also be proof than an ancient creature may still roam the jungles of South America. Ground sloths are thought to have gone extinct thousands of years ago. Do stories of the Mapinguari prove the Giant Ground Sloth is still alive? If so, how? The Mapinguari is a nasty and frightening monster, one you surely do not want to tangle with should you meet in a dark corner of the forest. It's legend is cemented in South American lore, dating back for generations. Standing over nine feet tall, with nasty claws, backward-facing feet and an extra mouth on its belly, the terrible beasty would surely send you running for the hills if it didn’t get hold of you first. Though, if accounts of locals are to be believed, you’d likely smell it coming and have ample chance to get away because the Mapinguari is said to give off a horrific scent. It’s alleged to be a carnivore, and has been blamed for devouring herds of cattle, but never has there been a documented assault on a human. Mainstream scientists and researchers say this creepy cryptid probably isn’t real, of course. It’s thought to be a local legend and superstition, perpetuated by the tribes of South America.
