Today, we'll be discussing who could be the next GREAT dark witch or wizard.Throughout the Harry Potter series, we are introduced to many evil witches and wizards who commit great and terrible crimes. From the likes of Barty Crouch Junior to Bellatrix Lestrange, both of whom were loyal Death Eaters who tortured, killed and brutalised other witches and wizards in the name of Lord Voldemort, there was no shortage of evil people during Harry's time as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But, of course, the DARKEST wizard of that time was none other than Voldemort, who literally went by the name "The Dark Lord". His crimes and offences against wizardkind went beyond any other during his lifetime. And before Voldemort, there was another great and powerful dark wizard--Gellert Grindelwald. Today, we'll be discussing why Ron Weasley and his entire family were often referred to by other pureblood wizarding families as "blood traitors".In the very first instalment of the Harry Potter series, we meet just about every member of the Weasley family almost right at the beginning of Harry's first-ever journey to Hogwarts. After Harry approaches Molly, Percy, Fred, George, Ron and Ginny to ask for help finding Platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross Station, it becomes instantly clear that the Weasleys are a warm, friendly bunch who are willing to help out a stranger--no questions asked. From there, the Weasley family's inclination towards being friendly and helpful only becomes more evident, with Ron and Harry getting along famously as they journey together to school on the Hogwarts Express and go on to spend almost the entire school year by each other's side. And as the years go on, Harry spends more and more time with not only Ron, but the entire Weasley family, being invited to stay over at their house in The Burrows during the holidays and even for other special events and occasions like Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour's wedding. Today, we'll be discussing what exactly those GOLD flames were that Harry shot at Voldemort during The Battle of the Seven Potters.Throughout the series, we are introduced to a many number of spells, charms and curses. And, typically, when a witch or wizard casts or conjures any magic of this kind, it's associated with an incantation and some physical manifestation of magic shooting out of the caster's wand. For example, the most well-known dark arts spell of all time is The Killing Curse, one of the three Unforgivable Curses, which is conjured with "Avada Kedavra" and results in a jet of bright green light coming out of the witch or wizard's wand. By contrast, there are also many famous spells that are conjured for good, such as the Patronus Charm, which can be cast by saying "Expecto Patronum" and which releases magic in the form of an animal, unique to each witch or wizard, and made of a silver, vapour-like substance.So, while we typically know what spell an individual is trying to conjure based on the incantation and what comes out of their wand, this isn't always the case. Today, we'll be discussing how in the name of Merlin's Beard GINNY Weasley was able to block BELLATRIX Lestrange's Avada Kedavra curse.As many of you will know, Avada Kedavra is one of--if not THE--most lethal curse to exist within the entire Wizarding World. As one of the three Unforgivable Curses that were classified as such and banned from use in 1717, Avada Kedavra is a deadly spell that is also known as simply The Killing Curse. Created with potent Dark Magic, these three spells are both extremely strong and extremely sinister with the entire purpose of The Killing Curse being to eliminate its target.And with the exception of Harry Potter, no witch or wizard who has been hit with the Avada Kedavra curse has ever survived. What's more, there is actually no magical way to protect oneself against this particular curse. That is to say, there's no counter-curse or shield spell that's powerful enough to block Avada Kedavra. In fact, the only way to avoid the effects of The Killing Curse and not die upon contact is to literally AVOID the curse. This means that one can only survive Avada Kedavra if they jump out of the way or hide behind a solid enough object like a wall or boulder. Today we're discussing why more characters in Harry Potter don't return as ghosts after they die.Very early on in the series, we are introduced to the concept of ghosts within the wizarding world of Harry Potter--as we meet the many spirits who roam the halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry almost immediately upon Harry's arrival to the castle in his first year. These spirits are represented as transparent apparitions who resemble the witch or wizard that they were while they were part of the world of the living. Being that they are transparent, they are able to pass through solid objects, such as walls, furniture and even people. Muggles are unable to see these ghosts as magical folks can, but since they cause disturbances in fire and water and cause the temperature in the air to drop, their presence is typically felt by anyone nearby, regardless of whether they can see them or not. It is said that to have a ghost pass through you feels as though a bucket of freezing cold water has been dumped upon your entire body!Within the wizarding world, it's also widely known that Muggles are unable to return as ghosts, and that only someone with magical abilities may come back as these shadow versions of their living selves. As described by the Gryffindor ghost Nearly Headless Nick..."Wizards can leave an imprint of themselves upon the earth, to walk palely where their living selves once trod," said Nick miserably.
