Stocks for Beginners

Stocks for Beginners

We're all investors in the stock market, either directly or through our retirement plans. We're handing over management of our assets to financial advisors and fund managers. The best will look after our interests and make us wealthier. But how can we know for sure? Where are the investors' yachts? The big money on Wall Street is made by charging us fees. The finance industry is collecting for managing money, whether they win or lose or break even.

Where do you go if you're completely new but want to start learning about investing in the market yourself. The jargon is dense and it can feel like we're being kept deliberately in the dark with many confusing metrics.

In Stocks for Beginners you'll hear from people in the finance industry and together we'll explain the key concepts of investing while they share their financial knowledge. More importantly, they have insights that allow us to look under the hood of the stock market, explaining how it works and what to look out for.

How is your Roth 401 (k) or 401 (k) investment retirement account linked to the stock market? It's crucial to understand the fundamentals of stock markets. I recommend "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham and Warren Buffett's newsletters.

I explore the basics - what a stock is and how to buy one, and delve into the world of value investing, exploring strategies to identify undervalued stocks. I cover the NYSE, FTSE, Dow Jones, S&P500, the Russell, CBOE (Chicago Board Options Exchange), ETFs (Exchange-Traded Funds), Mutual Funds, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), and the difference between passive and active investing.

There are many traps for beginner investors and it's good to be aware of the role and risks of options, warrants, CFDs (Contracts for Difference), day trading, bonds, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, the difference between fundamental and technical analysis.

Tracking your investments is essential, and it's important to know about watchlists, understand dividends, robo-investing, dollar-cost averaging, fixed income, index funds, and micro-investing.

What is the role of stockbrokers and online brokers and how to buy and sell stocks.

I've interviewed industry experts and collaborated with Gary Brode, Caleb Silver, Spencer Jakab from Wall Street Journal, Erik Smolinski, Investopedia, Stockopedia, Lawrence Carel, Deep Knowledge Investing, 2 bulls in a china shop.

We have to be smart. We have to be diversified and we have to have good risk management strategies if we want to invest for the long term. That's what I'm all about. I'm Phil Muscatello. Join me on Stocks for Beginners. For more information go to https://www.stocksforbeginners.net/

JR Gondeck is a Partner and Managing Director with The Lerner Group, JR works with families to promote intentional communication and drive collaboration between all generations. JR is the co-author of Family Value at Risk, a book that details the importance of inclusive and intentional communication among families to leave a lasting legacy."There's two really traumatic points of time that you can hurt yourself in. One is at the top of the market and one's at the bottom of the market. The last thing you want to do is get worried and sell at the bottom, and the other’s true right now, stock prices are near all-time highs, and if you look at a certain stock or a trend - cryptocurrency for example, it might be something that you expect is going to continue to go up forever and you invest at the peak of the market and you are concentrated in the wrong thing. Both can be very bad for your retirement plan. So just be disciplined and not look too closely, and really be diligent about how you're saving and not letting your emotions get the best of you when you're investing."JR LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jr-gondeck/JR Twitter: https://twitter.com/GondeckJrTLG LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-lerner-groupTLG Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheLernerGroupTLG Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheLernerGroupCompany website: lerner.hightoweradvisors.comPortfolio tracker Sharesight tracks your trades, shows your true performance, and saves you time and money at tax time. Stephen Leeb - Gold, As Good As...

Stephen Leeb, is author of China’s Rise and the New Age of Gold. He says that gold’s rise is just beginning. He thinks all investors, and younger Americans in particular, need to invest in gold to protect themselves against a falling dollar and a radically changing world economy. We spoke about:What’s a commodity? Why do developing countries need commodities? How to buy gold – miners, ETFs or bullion. What’s special about gold? Why is the economic power of the US in jeopardy?"Most of all the gold that this earth has inherited has already been mined and one remarkable statistic about gold is that whatever has been mined is probably still with us, it's not consumed, other commodities things that you touch, like copper like even silver, zinc, lead oil l is consumed, gold is not consumed."More information about Dr Leeb can be found via the following links:T: https://twitter.com/LeebPhdW: https://www.stephenleeb.com/FB: https://www.facebook.com/StephenLeebPhDLI: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drstephenleeb/Portfolio tracker Sharesight tracks your trades, shows your true performance, and saves you time and money at tax time. Quick Tip - What's an Index Fund?

Quick Tip - What's an Index Fund?

One of the best places to start investing is in an index fund. Robert Farrington from the College Investor explains what an index fund is."That's really the name of the game it's not about what you invest in it's not about picking stocks, it is about how much you can possibly get into your investment accounts as early as you physically can."Here's links to find out more about Robert Farrington:https://thecollegeinvestor.com/https://open.spotify.com/show/2WtF5XvOdiNNLSXbkPmvLahttps://www.youtube.com/c/thecollegeinvestorT: @rrobfarringtonPortfolio tracker Sharesight tracks your trades, shows your true performance, and saves you time and money at tax time. Tom Britton - Syndicate Room Startups

Tom Britton - Syndicate Room Startups

Every company was a start-up at one stage. Tom Britton is the cofounder Syndicate Room, a fund that invests in startups. Tom grew up in Los Angeles and, thanks to his Scottish-born father, was always interested in trying to make a career out of playing football. He moved to Edinburgh in 2006 to pursue this goal and played in the lower leagues for three years, during which he added two league titles to his collection."When you're investing in startups, you're effectively waiting for the company to either sell out or list on a market or go bust, which is how it works with startups." Syndicate Room is an innovative fintech company made up of data-scientists, investment professionals and marketers. They have indexed the startup market in and track several million data points. Their data has led to the development of a co-investment fund that deploys alongside a group of “Super Angel” investors who, at a minimum, achieve ~30% year on year portfolio. A relatively young company but fast-growing, their investment portfolio is diverse and impressive.
