Colorado's death penalty was abolished in 2020. Even before it was abolished, the state followed through on death sentences very rarely, with the most recent execution taking place in 1997. That final execution was for a particularly gruesome crime. That gruesome crime is, of course, our case this week.  It was a brutal killing involving the kidnapping, rape, torture, and murder of a young mother whose only crime in life was being in the wrong place at the wrong time. An officer, Joe Gliniewicz comes across a suspicion scene in an abandoned property, where he claimed he was in pursuit of three men on foot, he later calls for backup and when they arrive they find Joe dead from two gunshot wounds, and his weapons strewn about. The search for the cop killers was in full force, but this just the beginning for this small town murder turned mystery! Steve Herr enters his son Sam’s apartment in Costa Mesa, California and makes a shocking discovery. The body of 23-year-old Juri Kibuishi, lay in his son’s bedroom.
