23. Safety 1st - Before, the River of Misery

23. Safety 1st - Before, the River of Misery

Things are seeming to get worse....

Is this a thought you've had during your healing journey?

The River of Misery is a tool we offer to our mind when this comes up. It makes sense that as we start to change, rewire our brain and offer ourselves new reframes that the parts of us that are used to the way we do things will freak out a little or maybe a lot. And this is what the river of misery refers too.

However, when we add trauma to the mix, sometimes it's not safe yet in our body to step even one foot into that river.

If you have tried to push through the hard and everything in you screams out to stop, you can't seem to make any progress, or you start ok and then fell pushed back to shore, it could be because your body needs some safety first.

I invte you to take a listen and see if any of this resonates.
