Why We Started the Inner Sunset Art Walk and Made it a Seasonal Tradition

We started the art walks to build community, drum up business, activate the neighborhood, and support local art.

Participation for artists and merchants is a no-brainer; it is free, and the more people that participate, the more significant our impact as a community will become. Let’s grow together by working together to make our neighborhood and community a wonderful place to live and visit.

Merchant and Artist participants get to decide how they would like to get involved. The possibilities are endless.

  • Merchants are encouraged to offer a unique offering, a special discount, free samples, and tastings, or launch a seasonal product, collection, or promotion!
  • Artists/Makers are encouraged to launch new work, promote new collections, or host a pop-up print signing or book signing. The possibilities are endless!

Think of the seasonal art walks as a habitual creative process for artists and businesses.

The idea is that when artists and businesses participate in the art walk every season, they begin thinking about next season, this season. In my seventeen years as a branding and marketing strategist/designer, I have seen clients struggle with consistency more than almost anything else. But when they finally learn how to implement a simple seasonal marketing plan, their businesses suddenly become easy and systematic. Ideas start revealing themself in the background of their minds and flow to the surface like magic over time. Think of the art walk as a habitual creative process for artists and businesses. In the process of consistently participating in the art walks, their branding and marketing processes begin to evolve naturally. When everyone works together, we work smarter, not harder. Because together, we are stronger and smarter.

It’s totally free to participate, and if you are an artist/maker or an Inner Sunset Merchant, we would be honored to have you!

*We also offer a Creative Business Strategy Workshop every quarter to help you prepare for next season. The next one takes place live at HUNT & GATHER on Wed., Sept. 13th, from 6-8, doors open at 5:30 pm. Here’s the link to learn more and sign up: Creative Business Strategy Session-Holiday Planning
