Ep39 - I Thought I’d Never Ride One

I thought I would never try this in Japan. But one small decision turned into a surprisingly fun memory. This episode is about trying something before judging it.

==Japanese and English scripts==

Last year, when I went back to Japan, I rode a go-kart in Osaka.

But this go-kart was not inside an amusement park.

It was a go-kart that runs on normal roads.

The car is very small.

The body of the car is also very low.

When you sit in it, you are almost touching the ground.

The engine sound is also loud.

Even before we started moving, I felt excited and nervous.

Actually, I used to think this.

“That is something visitors from other countries enjoy.”

Of course, this was just my own image.

But when I saw go-karts driving through the city with a very loud sound, I used to think this.

It must be annoying for people who are driving cars.

People walking in the city probably think it is noisy, dangerous, and annoying too.

So I thought I would never ride one in my life.

But in the end, I decided to ride one.

The family I was with in Japan said they wanted to ride the go-karts.

At first, I hesitated a little.

I thought it looked fun.

But I also thought it might be a little embarrassing.

That is because many people look at you when you drive through the city.

Some people point their phones at you and take photos or videos.

I thought, “Wow, this really stands out.”

Then a Japanese staff member who was guiding us said this to me.

When I heard that, I laughed.

And I felt even more embarrassed.

But when we actually started driving, it was super fun.

The wind hit my face directly, so it felt really good.

Sometimes people walking on the street waved at us.

At that moment, I thought, “Oh, this is more fun than I expected.”

Once I started riding, I did not feel embarrassed anymore.

My image of it and my real feeling were different.

I am glad I tried it instead of deciding I did not like it before trying.

It became a very good memory.
