Tracy Ane Brooks is an award-winning author, artist, educator, and co-founder of Mission: Wolf, a renowned wolf sanctuary and nature center in Colorado. Since 1989, she has worked closely with wolves, horses, and people, exploring the profound connections between the natural world and the creative spirit. An accomplished painter, illustrator, photographer, horse and wolf behavior specialist, Tracy draws upon decades of firsthand experience to create books that blend wildlife education, personal insight, creativity, and conservation. She is also a blood relative of celebrated American author James Fenimore Cooper, whose literary legacy reflects a longstanding family connection to storytelling and the natural world. Tracy's first book, A Walk in Connection, received the 2021 Equus Film & Arts Festival Literary Reserve Champion Award in the Horses and Healing category. Her book A Brush with Wolves: Pathways into the Creative Spirit of the Gray Wolf was honored with a 2026 Nautilus Gold Award for Creativity and Innovation. Her newest work, A Brush with Wolves: Through the Eyes of the Gray Wolf, continues her exploration of wolves, creativity, and the enduring bond between humans and the natural world.
