In this episode, we discuss why VO2 max has become a common focus in fitness and longevity conversations, and we look at whether it is the main driver of longer life or mainly a marker of other factors. We break down the study findings and note that body composition, especially body fat percentage, and overall physical activity appear to be more important predictors of longevity than chasing VO2 max directly.We also compare VO2 max with other fitness metrics and say that focusing on one number can make people miss the habits that create it.
