Pause and Pour: Ten Seconds to Reset Your Stressed-Out Friday

Pause and Pour: Ten Seconds to Reset Your Stressed-Out Friday

Hey there, friend. I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here with me today. You know, it's a Friday morning in late August, and if you're anything like most people I talk to, you might be feeling that particular kind of overwhelm that comes with the weekend rushing toward you while a dozen things are still undone. So take a breath with me, yeah? We're going to spend the next few minutes together, and I promise you'll feel a little lighter when we're done. Let's start by just noticing where you are right now. You don't have to change anything yet. Maybe you're sitting, maybe you're standing. Maybe you're in a quiet space, or maybe there's life happening around you. Wherever you are is exactly right. Take a moment to feel your feet or your seat connecting with whatever's supporting you. That support is always there, even when your mind is spinning like a ceiling fan on high. Now, let's try something I call the "pause and pour" technique. It's simple, but oh, it works. I want you to breathe in slowly through your nose for a count of four. Imagine you're pouring cool water into a glass, filling it intentionally, one drop at a time. Feel that breath arriving. One, two, three, four. Now hold it gently for just a beat. Then exhale through your mouth for a count of six, like you're slowly pouring that water back out, releasing everything that doesn't serve you right now. Any tension, any worry, any "I should be doing something else." Let it go. Again. In through your nose, four counts. Pouring in. Holding. Then out through your mouth, six counts. Pouring out. You're creating space inside yourself with each exhale. Do this three more times at your own pace. In, holding the fullness of this moment. Out, releasing what you can't control. In. Out. In. Out. Beautiful. Notice what's different now. Your shoulders might feel a little lower. Your mind might feel like it's stepped back just an inch. That's the magic of the pause. Here's what I want you to do today: carry this technique with you. When you feel stress creeping in, when you notice your shoulders climbing toward your ears, do just one round of pause and pour. One breath cycle. It takes ten seconds, and it resets something fundamental. Thank you so much for spending this time with me on Stress Relief. If this practice landed for you, please hit subscribe so you never miss an episode. You deserve this peace. I'll see you next time. For great deals today, check out https://amzn.to/47ZqpWT
