Pressing Pause: Your Monday Reset Button

Pressing Pause: Your Monday Reset Button

Hey there, I'm Julia Cartwright, and I am so glad you're here with me today. You know, it's a Monday morning in late August, and if there's any time of year when our nervous systems feel like they're running a marathon, it's right now. The summer's winding down, schedules are shifting, and everything feels a little urgent. So today, we're going to do something really simple but deeply nourishing. We're going to practice what I call responsive relaxation, and I promise it's going to feel like pressing pause on the whole world for just a few minutes. Let's get comfortable. You can be sitting, lying down, whatever feels good to your body right now. And before we dive in, I want you to notice something. Notice where you're holding tension. Is it in your shoulders? Your jaw? Your belly? Don't fix it yet. Just notice. That awareness is actually the first step toward genuine relaxation. Now, let's anchor into your breath. Breathing is like your body's remote control. When you breathe slowly and deeply, everything shifts. So take a breath in through your nose for a count of four, hold it gently for four, and then exhale through your mouth for six. That longer exhale? That's the magic ingredient. It signals safety to your nervous system. Let's do that three more times together at your own pace. Here's where we get creative. I want you to imagine that with each exhale, you're releasing something. Maybe it's the stress of the morning, or an awkward conversation, or just the weight of expectation. Picture it leaving your body like steam rising from a cup of tea. Don't force the image. Just let it be there. And with each inhale, imagine breathing in something that feels like relief. For me, it's the smell of fresh bread. For you, it might be ocean air, pine trees, or that perfect quiet moment before sunrise. Keep doing this for the next two minutes. Breathing out the tension, breathing in ease. If your mind wanders, that's not a mistake. Your mind's job is to wander. Your job is just to gently bring it back to your breath, like you're guiding a friend back to a comfortable seat. Beautiful. As we come to the close, hold onto this feeling. This calm you've created? You can access it anytime, anywhere. Later today, when things feel hectic, pause for just one conscious breath cycle. In for four, hold for four, out for six. That's your reset button. Thank you so much for spending these minutes with me on relaxation. I hope you felt even a small shift. Please subscribe so we can keep this practice going together, because your peace of mind matters. You've got this. For great deals today, check out https://amzn.to/47ZqpWT
