Water's Job Isn't To Hydrate You

Water's Job Isn't To Hydrate You

Todd Shipman is back, and this time we go straight at water. He opens by throwing out the term everybody uses. Structured water, he says, is a marketing phrase. What he is actually after is revitalized water, and the standard he judges everything against is biomimicry: how does a river do this. That framing does a lot of work over the next hour, because once you are asking what nature does, the design questions answer themselves. He walks through what happens to water inside a municipal system, and the detail that stuck with me is the ninety-degree angles. Nothing in nature turns like that.

The reframe I keep repeating came from his mentor, Jon Butts. Treated water is not dead water, it is dormant, and dormant is a word with a future in it. That is what flow form technology is meant to address, and Todd is specific about how it works and what is physically inside the units. He is also specific about what it is not. He will not tell you a wand holds coherence for six years, and his analogy for why is the best teaching moment in the episode: imagine picking one heart rate and holding it for six years straight, awake, asleep, mid-workout. That is not a feature, that is a broken system.

Then we get practical, which is where most listeners live. Todd gives you an order of operations, revitalize last, and a straight read on each water type. Reverse osmosis is a tool he reaches for in specific circumstances rather than a daily default, distilled has its place, and real spring water is the ideal if you can get it. He is disciplined about disclosing that he sells what he recommends, and he is willing to say when the evidence is not there yet, including on red light and on structuring water in the sun. The line that ties it together is Butts again: people think water's job is to hydrate us, and it is not. Its job is to be a bridge of communication. Stay strong and live long.

This conversation is for education only and is not medical advice. Todd Shipman has a commercial relationship with the products discussed. Individual accounts shared on air are personal experiences, not results you should expect.

About the Guest:

Todd Shipman is a water and wellness educator who works with Natural Action Technologies.

He has spent roughly two decades in alternative health and the last seven focused on water, much of it studying directly under the late Jonathan "Jon" Butts, a former military nuclear engineer who became one of the field's most consulted figures. Todd describes his own role as translation rather than research: taking dense material and making it usable by his 74-year-old mother and his 14-year-old twins. He lives in Sonoma County, California. This is his second appearance on the show.
