Mastodon, Remembering Dolly Parton & Jared James Nichols

The members of Mastodon sit down for an incredibly honest conversation about their new album Marrow Deep. Bill, Troy, and Brann share the painful journey of making this record following the departure and subsequent death of guitarist Brent Hinds, as well as the loss of Brann's mother. They talk candidly about the documentary 'Mastodon in the Room' they created to address Brent's exit from the band, the challenges of maintaining a 25-year brotherhood, and how channeling grief into their music has become therapeutic. Following that, Eddie opens up about spending an afternoon with the country icon, Dolly Parton, when she made her rock covers album. He recounts how she declined her Rock Hall induction to make room for deserving rock artists, then created 'Rockstar' with 39 tracks featuring everyone from Steven Tyler to Sting. Eddie shares behind-the-scenes stories from their interview session in Nashville, including Slash's frantic texts and her genuine knowledge of every rock artist on the record. Kevin Cronin also chimes in to discuss duetting with Dolly on 'Keep On Loving You.' Closing the podcast, blues rock guitarist Jared James Nichols discusses his latest album Louder Than Fate. The conversation covers everything from workout routines on tour and advice from George Lynch about getting too bulked up, to collaborating with Keith Nelson, Tyler Bryant, and Tuk Smith on new material. Jared also opens up about his relationship with Gibson Guitars, including his signature Les Paul models and brand ambassador role.
