Wife Faces Hawaii Doctor Who Allegedly Tried to Kill Her

This episode describes a harrowing legal case involving Ariel Koig, a nuclear engineer who survived a brutal attempted murder allegedly perpetrated by her husband, Dr. Ghart Koig. During a birthday hike in Hawaii, the doctor reportedly attacked his wife with a syringe and a rock near a cliff edge before being interrupted by bystanders. The provided transcript details Ariel’s brave court appearance to secure a restraining order while her husband faces charges of second-degree attempted murder. Legal experts featured in the source emphasize that this case serves as a chilling example of how domestic violence and premeditated control can permeate even high-achieving, professional households. Despite the husband’s not guilty plea, prosecutors and victim advocates highlight significant evidence of premeditation, including the presence of a medical bag at the scene and an alleged confession to his son. The narrative underscores the victim's resilience as she navigates the criminal justice system to protect herself and her young children.
