Satan's Helper: The Christa Pike Story - Every Chance She Was Given

“I want everybody to be proud of me, but people get hurt there.” Christa Pike said that to her aunt at Christmas 1994, nineteen days before she and Tadaryl Shipp killed Colleen Slemmer in Knoxville. The complete three-part Hidden Killers documentary Satan's Helper: The Christa Pike Story, in one cut, starts with that sentence and ends thirty-one years later in a witness room at Riverbend.

In between is the record. Her mother testified her daughter had been out of control since she was eight and that she'd smoked marijuana with her to establish a friendship. Her father signed papers so someone else could adopt her. A staffer at the Swannanoa training school found her on a hobby-room floor with other girls, chanting over a five-pointed star drawn inside a circle. By an officer's account, she wore the same star on a chain when she walked up to the crime-scene tape the next day and giggled. Her confession ran forty-six typed pages. She told police Colleen begged to be let go and promised to walk home to Florida, and that it was harder to hurt somebody when they were talking to you. The medical examiner ran out of alphabet lettering the wounds.

After the death sentence she wrote Shipp that she'd bashed Colleen's brains out so she'd die quickly and signed it Little devil. In 2001 she choked an inmate with a boot lace until the woman was unconscious, then told her mother on a recorded line that she'd premeditated the hell out of it. In 2012 she was at the center of a plot to copy a prison key. In 2026 she survived her own execution. Tony tells it all and gives the last word to Colleen's mother, who says she is still waiting for a piece of her daughter.
