Gypsy Rose, Dee Dee & Ken Urker: The Note Said WHAT?!

Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s history with Dee Dee Blanchard contains a warning that looks enormous in hindsight. Neurologist Bernardo Flasterstein examined Gypsy, questioned the serious diagnoses Dee Dee reported, and wrote that he believed Dee Dee had Munchausen by proxy. He later said he did not think he had enough information to report the case to child protection.

Dee Dee moved Gypsy’s care away from that doctor. The medical story continued through a wheelchair, a feeding tube, salivary-gland surgery, and other treatment while Dee Dee claimed older records had been destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The family also received major charitable support, including a Habitat for Humanity home and a Make-A-Wish trip. The fraud was not exposed through the medical system before Dee Dee’s 2015 death.

The second half turns to Ken Urker, the father of Gypsy’s daughter. He was found dead at his Raceland, Louisiana home on October 1, 2026. Deputies reported finding syringes, a spoon, a brown powdery substance, two shot glasses, and a holstered handgun. Authorities said the investigation remained open, and the coroner said toxicology was still pending.

Gypsy initially said she believed Ken overdosed but did not know whether it was intentional. Weeks later, she wrote in her Kenan’s Law petition that she was “100 percent” certain his death was not suicide. We trace the gap between those statements and the official findings available at the time. From a doctor’s written suspicion years ago to a new claim made before toxicology was public, this combined episode is about what the record says, what people say, and the space between them.
