Queen’s Day 5 - Felix Auger-Aliassime Arrives
The name Felix Auger-Aliassime has been thrown around for a few years, and his rise up the rankings this year has been one of the most interest talking points of 2019.Even the Tennis Podcast team weren’t expecting what he produced this week at Queen’s, beating Grigor Dimitrov, Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the space of 26 hours. He’s now into the semifinals against Feliciano Lopez, a man more than twice his age. Lopez came back from a set down to beat Milos Raonic in a final set tie-break.Perhaps the winner of the title will be Daniil Medvedev, who squashed Diego Schwartzman 6-2, 6-2. In doubles, there was more Andy Murray chat after he and Lopez were called off for bad light against Dan Evans and Ken Skupski. The Tennis Podcast is produced with Telegraph Sport, and available daily throughout the Fever-Tree Championships at The Queen’s Club, and Wimbledon. Hosted on Acast. Queen’s Day 4 - Andy Murray Is Back
When Andy Murray struggled to haul himself onto a stool so that Catherine Whitaker could interview him in Australia, the idea that he would play stunning doubles at The Queen’s Club and celebrate like a big kid would have seemed frankly ridiculous. But that’s what has happened. Catherine spoke live to Murray for Prime Video after his straight sets win alongside Feliciano Lopez against top seeds Cabal and Farah, and David sat in on all of his interviews. Murray could not stop talking. It was a joyous occasion.Elsewhere, Stefanos Tsitsipas scraped through against Jeremy Chardy, and now meets Felix Auger-Aliassime, who played extraordinarily well to beat both Grigor Dimitrov and Nick Kyrgios in the same day. Kyrgios had further run-ins with officialdom. And repeat. The Tennis Podcast is produced with Telegraph Sport, and available daily throughout the Fever-Tree Championships at The Queen’s Club, and Wimbledon. Hosted on Acast. Queen’s Day 3 - Rain, Tennis, Drama
More rain, but actual tennis as well. That’s the gist of the day 3 Tennis Podcast from the Fever-Tree Championships at The Queen’s Club.Juan Martin del Potro looked in fine fettle against Denis Shapovalov, but then hurt himself and was forced to withdraw from the tournament with yet another knee injury.Stan Wawrinka looked like he had added a turbo boost to his standard diesel engine as he raced to a 3-0 lead against Dan Evans, and never looked back. Is he in the mix? What about for Wimbledon?Stefanos Tsitispas did what we suspected he might do - played like a dream, looked like a movie-star and basically won everyone over in about 10 minutes. Only problem was he was up against the British No.1, and Kyle Edmund has his work cut out at 3-6, 3-3 overnight after the rain came down again. We cover the allegations around a doubles match that Feliciano Lopez played a couple of years ago, including his statement in response, the results elsewhere in Halle, Birmingham and Mallorca, and whatever else we could think of.The Tennis Podcast is produced in association with Telegraph Sport, and will be available daily throughout the Fever-Tree Championships and Wimbledon.
