Ep. 76 - Everything Adrenal: How to Reduce Stress & Connect with Your Body - with Laura Schoenfeld

We so much enjoyed chatting with dietitian Laura Schoenfeld about how we can support our adrenals, reduce stress, and find that happy, healthy place our bodies crave! We had a wonderful conversation with Laura—including some really specific advice—and as you’ll hear, she really knows her stuff! This was a really great reminder that so many women work hard on maintaining their health, but end up overstressed, overtrained, and undernourished. Let's keep taking care of our bodies, but in a way that allows us to get back to a space of physical, mental, and emotional nourishment! We Chat About: Laura’s shift into alternative nutrition The danger of using body image to define self-worth + when dieting becomes too restrictive Finding out carbs aren’t the enemy Adrenals and all the neat things they do When stress can be good + when it’s just bad The four triggers of HPA access dysregulation + why they matter Which came first, adrenal or gut flora issues? (a.k.a. The chicken and the egg question) Gaining weight with stress Why we undereat by accident Balancing intuition + structure in your diet Tracking calories with the right mindset + when not to do it Practicing self-love + giving yourself a little grace Finding that ideal weight without chasing an ideal Daily habits that sneak attack our health Avoiding micromanagement Laura’s one-on-one with Liz Knowing what you can control Resources: Learn more at lauraschoenfeldrd.com Connect with Laura on Instagram Connect With Us: iTunes: https://bit.ly/wineandshine Join our FB Group: The Wine and Shiners Like our FB Page: Wine & Shine Podcast Mentioned in this...

Ep. 75 - Well + Weird: Loving Who You Are + Embracing Who You’re Supposed to Be - with Holly Lowery

We had the pleasure of sitting down with the lovely Holly Lowery, an eating disorder recovery coach, an anti-diet advocate, and the host of the Well + Weird podcast. This is a great conversation about finding love for our body, finding health no matter where you fall on the weight spectrum, and embracing exactly who you are + who you’re supposed to be. It’s also a conversation that a lot of women NEED to have, but are afraid after years of programming telling us that we need to look, eat, or act a certain way – but that’s not the case! We Chat About: When a tornado stopped us from recording Healing human body weirdness How dieting teaches us not to listen to our intuition + bodies The story we’ve been sold about weight How perfectionism + wanting to fit in can escalate into disordered eating Recovering from disordered eating Speaking out loud + finding support Signs of disordered eating Reaching out to dieticians with experience in eating disorder recovery – NOT someone offering “weight management” Why aggressive weight loss or weight maintenance isn’t usually healthier (and doesn’t usually make you happier) Aligning your choices with yourself Is “feeling fat” or “feeling thin” real? The problem with “the war on obesity” How body positivity has been co-opted by diet culture Holly’s coaching + podcast Resources: Learn more at HollyLowery.com Listen to Well + Weird: hollylowery.com/well-and-weird Connect with Holly: Instagram | Twitter Shout Outs: Health at Every Size: The Surprising Truth about Your Weight by Linda Bacon Find an expert at eatright.org The Body Is Not an...Mentioned in this...
