Episode 174: Understanding our Identities in the Workplace with Sandra Chapman

Episode 174: Understanding our Identities in the Workplace with Sandra Chapman

Today on the podcast, I speak with Chap about the importance of understanding our identities and how that affects how we show up in the world and workplace and how the world and workplace receives us. This is a very nuanced and complex topic, but Chap breaks it down to help us understand how identity power works in relationship to positions of power. When we learn about our visible and invisible differences, we can create more meaningful connections. Chap highlights how research shows how having a diversity of identities is better for business. There is more risk taking and problem solving abilities. Having awareness of our identities, being to name microaggressions and learning how to repair are essential to creating a culture of psychological safety.
