The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Defiance Action 18 Month Follow Up

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Defiance Action 18 Month Follow Up

It's been close to 18 months since Bob Beck and Eric Stecker bought Defiance Actions and it looked like the Internet was going to explode. The Internet drama machined ramped up into overdrive and since that time it's been pretty quiet. During my last podcast with Team POI we touched on Defiance and what happened in terms of logistics and material support. Cole quickly changed the subject which lead to a phone call from Competition Shooter Nick Gardazi. Nick asked if I would open to having Bob Beck from Extreme Outer Limits on the show, which of course.

After a short back and forth, we landed, Nick, Bob and Eric on the Everyday Sniper podcast to talk about the transition during the initial moments they bought Defiance through today. Areas of discussion with this episode include:

  • Initial Purchase of McMillan Stocks
  • The Decision to Purchase Defiance
  • The Reality of buying Defiance
  • The Initial Fallout of buying Defiance
  • Where Defiance is today
  • Where Defiance will go on July 1 2024

There is a little bit of business talk when it comes too the financial reality of buying Defiance Actions, however this adds important context to the steps that were taken immediately afterward that angered the shooting community

This was an honest and open discussion, I did not feel anyone was overly defensive which to me was a good sign. And the anticipation of what they are doing moving forward as well as a look where they need to be as a team player. The key was Builder Network, how does a company supply and manage the builder network as that is where the problems arise. Delays in stocks, delays in actions, delays in barrels all add up. The model is support the builder network with best practices moving forward and it looks like they have a plan. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, and thanks for being a part of the everyday sniper podcast.

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition Colorado Dreaming

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition Colorado Dreaming

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition Colorado Dreaming  Colorado dreaming on such a sunny day. Marc and Frank just finished a 3-day course in Fort Morgan Colorado.  Had excellent students come out to shoot with us and had a ton of fun.  With the Colorado Wind Gods being as angry as they have been, it provided an excellent opportunity to learn how to shoot in the wind.  We absolutely subscribe to the Gun Number model and even into our 4th Wind Bracket.   Once we fixed the student's fundamentals, we marched them out to a mile. It was awesome seeing all the impacts at distance.   Value-Added Bonus, Jack Master, Ted H came into town and thrilled us with new information and well as helped all the students with competition shooting skills.  Ted is an excellent resource and we absolutely loved having him here.   Excellent class all around, really appreciate all the students that arrived.   Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper.

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition: Rise of the Valkyrie

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition: Rise of the Valkyrie It's alive, it's alive, it's alive !!!  My Accuracy International AX Short Action is now chambered in 224V. Yes you heard that right, my AI is an 224V and it hammers.  So while I understand the Valkyrie is a dead cartridge, I don't see it surviving history, I do enjoy using it today. I got access to an 6.8 Bolt head and spun up a barrel, now I am ready to roll.  Performance was impressive, if you want to see the results head to Sniper's Hide and do a search.  But in this episode I breakdown my thoughts on the subject. Let me know what you think?  Thanks for listening sharing and being a part of the Everyday Sniper  Enjoy

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition: Who doesn’t love a Rant

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition: Who doesn’t love a Rant

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb Edition: Who doesn't love a Rant  Right, I mean we all love the drama clearly, if we didn't we wouldn't keep repeating it over and over.  Something would change, and by change, I don't mean hiding the situation or shutting down the conversation, I mean fixing the shit that is broke.  So the PRS comes to Colorado in true PRS fashion, they have drama, not with one individual, but they start with an entire squad of shooters.  One guy gets treated unfairly, and what does the match do, alienate the entire squad of shooters, because they would have, so you must be too.  Anyway, then I talk Crossfire Videos with Chris. He and I are doing these little tips and tricks videos, peeling back the curtains.  Normally I talk high level stuff, but this time we break it down a bit further. Competition season is just starting to kick off so remember to support the groups that support the shooters.  Competition is cheap training if you use it correctly. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast.

The Everyday Sniper Podcast:Knowledge Bomb Edition: Balance the Equation

The Everyday Sniper Podcast:Knowledge Bomb Edition: Balance the Equation

The Everyday Sniper Podcast:Knowledge Bomb Edition: Balance the Equation Balance is important in life, after all without balance we will all fall down.  But balancing work, life, family, and even your shooting events is critical.  I like balance.  For me, I return to center by taking the off season to reflect. I spent time exploring, experimenting, and most important, unplugging.   We need to take a step back every so often in order to put things back into perspective.   The Precision Rifle leagues need to do that too.  I know Pawnee locally reset their dates, times and stages to keep things fresh.  People are moving west to find new challenges as they mastered all the stuff back east.   How are you challenging yourself ?  What will you change in the 2022 shooting season ? These are important questions to ask.  Thinking outside the box every now and then is key to your mental health. Don't be change things up, especially if you feel you reached that plateau in journey. We want to constantly grow and if the landscape looks flat, you need to move.  Quick Episode to get the juices flowing.  So thanks for listening, sharing and being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast.   But sure to stop by Sniper's Hide too while you're at it.

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb: CR2 Shooting Crew

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb: CR2 Shooting Crew

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Knowledge Bomb: CR2 Shooting Crew Alright, coming off the heels of my last podcast where I rant about shooting far, here we have the CR2 Shooting Crew to expand.  Chris Rance and Chris Roberts are on the episode to talk the practical relationship between shooting ELR distances, vs using a Radio.  CR2 is expanding their courses to offer new classes that are a bit outside the box.  From here we are talking radios, communication and why you should not overlook it.  Shoot, Move, Communicate, that was the mantra  Next we talk the mountains, CR2 Shooting Solutions is teaming up with Chris Way to offer a mountain course at Cameo.  This should be an excellent representation of what it takes to operate in the mountains,  Enjoy this one, we did, thanks for listening, sharing and being a part of the everyday sniper podcast, cheers,  Lowlight  Sniper's Hide

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Bing Bang Boom Ricochet Rabbit

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Bing Bang Boom Ricochet Rabbit

The Everyday Sniper Podcast: Bing Bang Boom Ricochet Rabbit This was a fun one, I was a bit wound up today. I have had several calls over the last few days about calibers and cartridges.  So I was worked with guys talking about going big.  Go big, everyone wants to go big, but not Me, I want to go small.  Light is Right  There I said, I told you guys for awhile now, lighter bullets are better. It's a fact you can't get around.  Speed wins, as well speed kills, so why do they want to go so heavy.  Well because they want to shoot far, which I understand. Push the envelope.  But we are snipers, and we can't really push the envelope because we are small and light.  We need to be mobile.  The big guns are awesome, they get all the attention. But they are not always practical because, well, you have to carry it.  Not to mention shoot it, with all that means, shooting far is not easy. This is training too, now you have to teach the guy more about ballistics and less about his job moving from point a to point b.   listen up I am on fire today,  so thanks for listening, thanks for sharing and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast.
