#6: “Finding a Therapist is Like Dating” with Ashley Laderer

We’re back witches, with a very special episode of “Love, Lust & Magick.” The yuletide season is upon us, which can be a tough time mentally and emotionally for so many of us. So today, the special guest is none other than mental health writer and advocate Ashley Laderer, who also happens to be one of Gabriela’s besties. In this episode we talk about Ashley’s pivot from fashion to writing about mental health, and how sharing her story about living with mental illness gave her newfound purpose. We talk about embracing your brain and all its perceived imperfections, the power of inner child work, and Ashley shares tips for finding a therapist. Then we both discuss some tools we work with to take care of our mental health- tools like therapy, medication, yoga, and journaling. Ashley shares about why she stopped forcing herself to do a gratitude practice, and she shares advice to her younger self on mental health and dating.
