Rapunzul is a classic fairy tale about a man and a wife who wish more than anything to have a child. Their wish comes true and while the woman is pregnant she wishes to eat the rampion in the garden of the enchantress next door. If she cannot not have the rampion then she wants nothing and becomes quite ill. Her husband finally sneaks into the garden and brings her some and she eats them greedily but this makes her want the rampion even more. He has to go back but this time the enchantress is there waiting. He promises his child in return for more rampion. When Rapunzel is born the enchantress takes her away and at the age of 12 she is locked up in a tower where the enchantress can visit her by being pulled up on her hair. A prince comes by one day and hears her singing and falls in love with her song. He watches how the enchantress goes up into the tower and once she has left calls for Rapunzel to let down her hair.
