#58 - Fight or Flight: Movement as Therapy w/ Nicky Ninedoors

Get your seatbelts on. I've been trying to get this week's guest on the show since Season 1 and she's finally here. Please welcome Nicky Ninedoors on the show! Nicky is an all-around artist. She is a well-known burlesque dancer, stripper, pilates and pole dancing instructor, healer, singer, pianist and so, so much more. She was able to let us in to her private life and lead us down on how she got started in the biz. From her roots in burlesque to overcoming her whorephobia to start stripping four years later and now, dancing virtually online at the Cellar Door Strip Club, she has been on a wild ride! The bulk of this episode also has a lot to with past sexual trauma and how she is choosing to cope with that: through physical movement. Nicky discovered that staying static hurt her body and that by continually moving, the pain hurt less. She gives us a psychological breakdown of what our bodies go into in fight or flight moments, how much cortisol we need, and even to further explain mere glances our parents did or did not give us growing up. It is a fascinating lesson and I'm so glad she was able to share her wealth of knowledge with us this week. We also briefly speak about her Stripper with a Camera venture, battling censorship and SOSTA/FESTA and more. It's a long episode but trust me, you'll want to listen to in its entirety.

#03 - From the Audience's Perspective w/ Emilio

It's time to switch it up! What does the audience have to say? Literally. This week we are bringing in Emilio Roxbury, a regular audience member amongst many strip clubs in British Columbia, Canada. We speak on his observations, the connections he's made with dancers and management and a little advice on the topic of a well-behaved audience. We discuss the art and theatric performance of stripping and how it is a dying art across the world. IG: @emilio_roxbury Don't forget to follow and subscribe! @strippedbysia @siasteph

#01 - The Dominatrix w/ Miss Sadie

We're kicking things off with a bang. On the very first episode of #StrippedBySIA, we host Miss Sadie, a local dominatrix in Vancouver. We lightly go over BDSM, getting started, being outed, the risks, the money, and of course, all of the crazy fucking stories. Not recommended if you have a weak stomach but this episode is sure make you want to turn your headphone volume all the way up. twitter.com/MissSadie4 Don't forget to follow and subscribe! @strippedbysia @siasteph

#02 - The Extinction of the Strip Club w/ Asia

We are welcoming exotic dancer, Asia, on the podcast today. We go over stripper do's and don'ts, traveling within the stripper circuit in British Columbia, Canada, amateur night and addressing the very real problem of strip clubs disappearing before our eyes. We tackle reasons why strip clubs are becoming extinct from accessibility to porn online, emerging technologies and a good handful of NIMBYism.
