Despite a Huge Scoring Surge in Period Two The New Jersey Devils Were Still Embarrassed by The Washington Capitals

The New Jersey Devils arguably played their worst game of the season so far in a 6-4 loss to the Washington Capitals. The Devils saw a huge scoring surge in period two which was led by Jack Hughes and Tyler Toffoli. However, they were wildly inconsistent in the other two periods and made too many defensive lapses. Their goaltenders Akira Schmid and Vitek Vanecek didn't look all that sharp either.
