You say: let’s go on an unknown mountain adventure at 3am on the night of our graduation party , and he says: you had me at “let’s” That’s a Friend. There are friends and then there is the one that runs in perfect sync with your stride as you both flow into another dimension while doing flying 200m repeats on the track. You start throwing up the hotdogs you ate that morning like the dumb student you are, and he says: come on, we only got 12 seconds left until the next 200m Because he knows you’ll shit your pants laughing at that, wipe the puke off your face and run the best 200m in your life! That’s a Friend. There are friends and then there is the one that rides a bike for 15000km only with you. In a year. Then another year. And another. On repeat. For decades. Freezing or scorching, it’s not even about the bike. It’s about life. It’s about day-dreaming and life-solving. You start cramping mid-race, your whole body locks up and you start questioning your life choices. He is in peak shape, but abandons his own race plans on the spot. Slows down and starts dragging you for 90km. Never stops telling you: Come on! You can do it! You the man! Because he knows that you will overflow with universal love for life when you cross that finish line completely demolished, body, mind and soul crushed beyond suffering and he stands by your side helping you not to pass out.
