PART TWO Some less regular callers make some great contributions, Taylor starts us off asking for Dennis (when fit) to play through the middle possibly alongside Bayo as it’s in the final third that we need to improve that final ball, Guy joins us traveling home after a very frustrating afternoon and summarises our position as a club and the day wonderfully, Rob wonders if his ticket for the Leicester game was really a good idea and disagrees that the times we have now can be compared to that under Basssinni; but wonders where we are and if we are all simply waiting for a new ownership to take over the club and insert more enthusiasm and energy. We go through the 5 word reviews before chatting to Sean who points out that so far Dennis’s contributions have cost us £63,000! Sean then chooses to regale us with “the ghosts of Watford Players past” having fun and playing well whilst current Hornets floundered on a frustrating day! COYH!! TWITTER SPACE - PART 1 WATFORD 0 - 1 CARDIFF CITY
PART ONE of the fan reaction following a very tepid display against Cardiff who took all three points back down the M4. Rich is very upset so we let him rant to avoid taking the mood into Mrs WFC2's birthday evening, Uncle Ron is in a car somewhere in Florida and is as you might imagine, Wendover wants to "two up" which was and wasn't an innuendo, Danny says play the kids at Southampton whilst Nellie who is usually so positive feels really flat, not having seen the result or the performance coming and Charlie asks should we be looking at the future with more wariness! TWITTER SPACE - PART 2 - SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 0 - 0 WATFORD
Charlie warns supporters that if you break everything down, next season losing parachute payments and loan players we could see ourselves next year in a similar position to Wednesday! We have an ongoing fight to get to Alex’s question which we finally get to, but we get to speak to Neil from his 44 tonne truck (being used an aerial to good effect!) and points out the transfer window is very quiet throughout the market, before we chat to Kevin who got all the way down from Scotland to the game and is delighted with Hamer, Pollock and the ref – Rebecca Welsh! TWITTER SPACE - PART 1 - SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 0 - 0 WATFORD
Alan chooses to focus on the positives in that Pollock is getting his chance and seems intent on proving his worth and cementing a place in the starting eleven and looking at the away form which is unbeaten in seven! Pete calls out the number of central midfielders is below the “two players for each position” threshold leaving TDB and Kone looking very leggy which whilst still working hard did affect the quality of their use of the ball. Wendover agrees that the players looked tired and asks why the transfer window has not been used to inject some fresh legs and energy into the squad. Always keen on a transfer window, Wendover fears that the hype over Dennis suggests that he might be the only incoming in the window (with 24 hours to go as we spoke). Caity joins us and points out that both Sema and Dennis are forced to play because of the lack of depth when they are clearly no where near 100% fit, Paul observes how once again Ben Hamer has won us a point with another outstanding display and asks why top players can play two games in a week and not look as tired. He further asks if our way of playing is further exacerbating the psychological element of “feeling” tired. Not convinced by either Bayo or Rajovic with the window closing asks what have Manga, Giaretta and Nani been doing? Paul is also dismissive of talk of building for next year as parachute money will be gone as loaned against already – might we be forced to sell Asprilla & Andrews and reverting to the Watford style of existence we had prior to the Pozzo takeover? However Paul is convinced that Val is, for all his faults, the right man to lead us next season too. Uncle Ron joins us and says if Gino has lost interest or if Watford has fallen down his list of priorities that he should sell and compares our situation to Newcastle under Mike Ashley. John joins us and offers “ying” to Ron’s “yang” (or vice versa) and looks on the positive side and looks through the squad and thinks we have enough until Pete points out the midfield numbers are below the level of 2 for each position. THE OPPOSITION VIEW - Cardiff City (Home)
We chat to Ben from "View from the Ninian" and discuss all things "Cardiffy" - including current form, past managers, Neil Warnock, Vincent Tan, Red Shirts and badge changes, losing a generation of support, weird games, was Kaba really Sorry? Also we discover why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a lettuce! The prediction videos are strange as we have Tommy Mooney's stunt double and Ben and Jarvis appear to have gone very French Avant Garde cinema style! Fortunately this makes no sense, so very little change there! Carl joins us in his role as Cultural Ambassador to the Principality of Wales! COYH!! THE OPPOSITION VIEW - Sheffield Wednesday (Away)
Pete and Justin chat with Ash from The Wednesday Week about all things Sheffield Wednesday and quite a lot of random nonsense as well. We hear about the new manager they do like and the old one that they didn't plus an owner that makes the Watford regime look calm and reliable!!! We relive the semi-final of their play off triumphs last season and how they are now lining up and playing before we descend into the inevitable confusion that is the prediction league. Carl is completing dry January in the pub (not entirely dry), Jarvis (the Cocker Spaniel) get's all very literary on us all and John seems to be confusing Claudia Winkelman being on TV on a Wednesday with well.......Wednesday! Ash is a calm and sensible influence on proceedings until demanding to know what the difference is between cathedrals when Justin's "Tourist Spots at Away Games" goes horribly wrong but then recovers with a story of Apple Breadcakes that makes Pete go all nostalgic and wistful of an away games against Port Vale in the mid-nineties! Carl phones it in - literally! COYH!! This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. The views in this Podcast are not necessarily the views of talkSPORT. TWITTER SPACE - PART 2 WATFORD 1-1 SOUTHAMPTON FA CUP
Kevin joins us from Scotland and talks about “that Barry Endean goal” and Pete invents a player called Ron Wigg when he meant Ray Lugg who crossed the ball for that famous goal. Kevin gives us some first-hand reports of how Pollock got on and was very well considered during his time at Aberdeen and we discuss Meils point about having to replace the qualities Mattie does have. We get an update on St Johnstone and start the debate as to what Scottish team (excluding the Old Firm) the podcast should (sort of) follow! The debate will rage or splutter on!! Chris joins us and immediately side steps the “which Scottish team should we adopt” debate like Chakvetadze avoids right backs – Chris sees the positives in a performance against that whilst much changed have confidence and a good way of playing in the saints and is balanced in his views that whilst the subs did not work, the performances of Asprilla, Chak and Martins were huge positives against strong opposition. We speak to Alan who enjoyed both the game and the bunker (make a late timed run to the bar!), despite fitness Alan sees reasons for optimism about Dennis and then asks why we didn’t see more from Pollock before his transfer request? Alans Scottish team suggestion is “Auchinleck Talbot”- eclectic as ever Alan!!! Dylan joins us asking can Pollock transfer that performance to the league and if so – don’t let him go!! Pete asks if Dennis coming in helped push Yasser, Giorgi, and Mattheus today? We do the five word reviews before Mal joins us from the “North West Cheese Express” who were gutted as they thought they had a local jaunt to Anfield to look forward to before the Saints equalizer, then we head into the long forms including other suggestions for Scottish teams to adopt, pausing only to hear from Gary and finish with a WFC Limerick!! Thank you as always to everyone who calls in, leaves reviews, sends messages and updates and of course those who chose to listen to the rambling shambles that we call the post-match phone in! If you think you might like to call in sometime – please do, and if you don’t – no worries – its just lovely that your all here. COYH! TWITTER SPACE - PART 1 WATFORD 1-1 SOUTHAMPTON FA CUP
PART ONE Rich is pleased with the performance but, in what would become a theme – frustrated that we didn’t take our chances when presented. Neal thinks a win at St Mary’s is inevitable and then we’ll be off to Anfield to finish Klpp’s FA Cup ambitions. Chip Shop Terry wonders if the wingers coming off was the wrong move for the match. Brett having sat with Pete during the game and discuss what was so good but where it went wrong with the substitutions and a first sight of Dennis shows us that he is going to need to get up to speed PDQ! Wendover as always is keen to see us do some business in the transfer window to build on a very solid foundation of a team. Neil joins us and asks the question – what will it cost us to recruit a player who ca play at the level we saw from Pollock today? COYH!
