An Innings With...The Ruth Strauss Foundation

In early 2018, Ruth Strauss, wife of Sir Andrew Strauss, was diagnosed with an incurable lung cancer that affects non-smokers. Ruth died later that same year; she was 46 years old and mother to two children, then aged 10 and 13.

In her memory, Sir Andrew set up the Ruth Strauss Foundation (RSF). Ruth’s vision and, therefore, our mission, is to ensure that every family with a child facing the death of a parent has access to professional emotional support to prepare the family for the future. In addition, we are driving the need for more research & collaboration in the fight against non-smoking lung cancers, to which Ruth ultimately lost her life.

In this bonus episode of Headstrong, I sat down with Deepa Doshi and Karina Murtagh of the Ruth Strauss Foundation to learn more about why the charity was founded, what important work they do and what we can do as members of the public to do more.
